Poor frame rate plus graphics glitches.

Well, I'm out of ideas.  On an athlon 3500+ with 3G ram and a Radeon x700, I'm getting single digit framerates in single player.  Also, Demigods are showing up monochrome, and the unclean beast isn't showing up at all unless you hover over him, at which point he is outlined in green.  Although the spikes on his shoulders are visible, if that's useful to know.

I've applied the graphics fix from here.  I'm also running on minimal settings and with sound disabled, as recommened in another thread.  I've updated my graphics drivers, and the only other program that I'm running is AVG.  Any other suggestions?

No suggestions to make with that quite dated system, I had something like that for my work pc except it was an x800 and even then it pretty much failed. I stuck in a 6600GT and it runs barely on minimal settings, my advice is unless you do an upgrade on you g-card you will not be able to play this game. On the upside you only need go to ebay and pick up a cheap £20 - 40 7900GT or above to play this game at 1024 x 768 at around 30 - 50 fps.

Hope this helped :)

While I'm not under any illusions about this being a good system, it's also well above the min. specs.  I'd have no complaints if the game chugged a bit, but it's unplayable in the best case scenario.  I guess if the min. specs are truly that far off I'll suck it up, but that seems pretty poor.

I have an AMD 3200+, 8800GT and 2GB Ram. Not a great system but certainly shouldn't have problems. When I do the fly over its smooth. When the peeps come into view it starts chugging. I tend to find it plays witha  sim speed of between -1 to 1.

Graphics I play on medium 1280x1024. If I change to low it makes no difference. Which would point at processor. However their is nota  lot happening to kill the game in this way. I also have a bit of a wayward processor. If it maxes at 100% then the fan kicks in. If I play WIC I hear the fan. I have never heard the fan playing DemiGod. So my suspicion is the game is not making the best use of the processor - maybe an AMD thing.

Playing WIC which is a notorious pc killer and it runs very smoothly on this RIG.

I think I have found the cause.

If you run demigod with /nosound running the brothers map. Game comes in Sim Speed 4. I then walk over to the right Portal and open that up. Game remains at Sim Speed 4 and is around 45fps. I then hit some peeps coming at me all at Sim Speed 4.

I now do the same game but this time with sound. Again Sim Speed 4 but as soon as I start walking towards the Portal it moves down to Sim Speed 3 and 2. After taking it its then on Sim Speed 1 and around 20fps.

My soundcard is a good one.  Sound card is X-Fi XtremeGamer I tried changing down the settings and stopping EAX etc but to no avail.

Any thoughts :(

** Note post http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232/#2157005 if you find your performance is improved significantly by /nosound option

it is NOT.

an X700 is below the minimum required spec.

So it is.  I completely overlooked the GPU requirement on the graphics card.  Sorry all.

Yeah, x0 cards don't support Shader Model 3, which the game requires.
