Problem with upgrading to additional units

I've had a problem lately, where when winning a game pretty well or in a dead even match, upgrading to priests too soon, ends up actually greatly increasing the level of my opponents, or making their war rank shoot above ours because they are getting more kills. Does anyone have tips on when to upgrade to priests, etc.? It's just kind of aggrivating buying something that is supposed to be an upgrade and then it ends up backfiring, or so it seems.

Interesting post, I think I might have had that problem and not realized it.  I'm probably going to hold off on upgrading to priests asap now...

as for when to do it? Well priests don't do much damage, but keep your guys alive, so then they help you to push forward and be able to do more damage to towers.  So I guess it would depend on how much you want to push those towers.  The size of the map probably matters too, since on a bigger map you are less likely to be able to hurt the enemy demigod, he can go somewhere else and soak up some experience.  I would also think it would depend on your own AOE, tower upgrades and the enemies' tower killing abilities...

You're right, I just played another game, and that was the problem.

Upgrading to priests early is still effective, as long as you make sure to destroy towers that are in the lanes after you do it. This was the problem I was having is that they were just being used as free exp and gold for the other team and I wasn't doing anything with it. If you destroy the towers slowly but surely, the priest upgrade will pay off, especially if you buy it in conjunction with unit HP upgrades. If you just send priests in and don't do a thing about the towers then you really are shooting yourself in the foot and the other team will just build up levels, gold, and war rank, and eventually come back and knock you off.

It was a 3v3 win, and knocking out the towers in the lanes allowed us to put too much pressure on them and they could not recover.

The more you know ;) I guess we both learned something in this thread then.  I say we delete our posts now so that no one else can find out...

I'm sure that Warscore is not increased by kills in any form. How fast it goes up is purely based on how many flags you hold.

The enemy does most certainly get extra exp/gold if they farm the priests. Thing is, if you protect they can be a REAL danger. I've won a few Conquest games without advancing past priests. It's amazing what a giant blob of them can do.
