Symmetric NAT

Hello dear Demigod Community,

I live in Switzerland and got a problem concerning p2p.

My Router (Thompson Speedtouch) does use this mysterious symmetric nat that prevents some p2p connections somehow.

I know how to forward ports, i never really had problems with any game. And i did forward all ports that demigod uses,

but i just seem to have problems with some players. I could only play 2v2 since release, and im talking about 15-30 tries and 1 game.

My question is how do I bridge or disable this symmetric NAT?

I think it kinda doesnt answer another user(PC) if it hasnt "talked" to him yet.

Anyways i dont really know what to do, does anyone have a clue?

Best regards

I don't think you can change the NAT type in any router. You'd simply have to buy another one.

However, I thought that the whole NAT facilitator system from Stardock should also overcome the symmetric NAT issue.

Anyone have info about what is being done to overcome all this NAT/DSL problems here in Europe?

Im really looking forward to playing online, but havent been able to connect once yet. Its pretty frustrating!

Read the developer journals plzthx.
End of n3crosys's quote
In yesterday's journal entry Frogboy only talked about intercontinental connection problems, not innercontinental connection problems. And they will solve it by putting proxy servers up, even though intercontinental connections should be rare anyway, since most people search for games that are labled with their continent.

So far there is no (good) comment (that I know of) on other connection problems, like the "Cannot connect to a NAT facilitator." problem or Symmetric NAT issues (which, as I said, I thought would be solved by Stardock's NAT facilitator system).

I will make some research on that NAT facilitator.
