I really love true multiplayer games, and I can go on for books about the theories behind it and in fact I have written alot on the subject for boards such as these.

I tried to wrote a strategy guide (not just "do this, then this", a real strategy guide), but it's hard to write your "feelings" on paper.
So now it's completed by about 50%. Also, it was written with emphasis on StarCraft (it may be used for any strategy, preferably RTS).

I've never was 1st on ladders, but really you almost don't have an opportunity in Russia. Say, you need a ping of no more than 30 to play RTS. And you need any Inet to play at all (preferably for free, because it's too expensive overwise). And if you are working, then you have money, but don't have free time.

I also left institute for a while because of games. And i know a lot of people with the same fate :) Seems that it's a common thing.

As about time need to be at the top... I know "Orky" team - top Russian RTS&TBS players. So i know how much they are playing. Really, most of them left institiute, they are not working...

I'm happy to be in the top 100, although it seems I've been bumped out of that, too.

Apolyton rocks. I never really took part in any of the community stuff until now (and even then, only VERY occaisonally) but GalCiv is a fun thing to discuss. I am not a hardcore strategy gamer; the other game I regularly play is Battlefield 1942, which I am considerably better at than GalCiv.

Although, if I can just figure out how Ellestar is winning these damn Tiny-Masochistic games, I'll be on top of GalCiv, too! ;)

Apolyton is the I-League of the Metaverse. Lots of members, but few that are particularly strong. In short, their power is ephemeral.

Actually, we don't worry about our score in G.R.O.S.S. either. HMMM Hey Staffa, should we be really wicked pirates and make our official website apolyton? After all, the Greeks never defeated the pirates. It took ceasar to do that. :)

And i think that someone else will be better leader of our empire - my english isn't so good to be a good leader. LDICesare? Don't you want to be our leader?

I don't think so. I have limited apolyton access excpet during week ends (firewalls and ISP stuff...), and I spend most of my apolyton time for Clash, so I'd rather get people to try the Clash of Civ demos than Galciv. Which also explains why I don't spend as much time playing Galciv as I could, since I code my game in my spare time when I don't play Galciv.

But I-League easily eats evil guys. Like G.R.O.S.S.

By the way, now Orky playing much less than before. They are training for 4-7 days before 'standart' tournaments and 2-4 weeks before big tournaments (World Cyber Games etc.), and they are not trying to stay at the top. So it's not essential to spend too much time, if you're focused on winning tournaments. (Top Russian Quake players training same amounts of time before tournaments too, so it's a common thing)

I easily crush the I-league early. In fact, their measily little scatterred planets make great inroads into enemy empires.

yea, thats the beauty of i-league, can often be the
easiest way into an ememies sector to start
cultural bombing them :)
