Oak stun at level 2?

My very first online game I was playing Rook. I went to cap a flag right after the game started (there haven't even been any creep waves) and I run into Oak.

He proceeeds to beat the crap out of me so I try to use a health pot and BAM "stunned"...

I was still really new to the game so after I take my butt whipping I log into single player and play Oak to learn his abilities...no stun..

So how the hell did he stun me at lvl 2 (maybe 3, but highly doubt it...to early in the game.)

pentenance ( sp?) is what he used on you. It's not really much fo a "stun" but it has a stun interput component. It will interupt spells for sure.

Yes, pentitence can interupt.

Penitence isn't an interrupt like Pounce or Deep Freeze. those two abilities don't produce a stun at all but will stop spell casting of anyone hit by them.

Penitence actually is a stun, an extremely short duration one, just 0.3 seconds. however this will still cause a spell cast to be interrupted and the cooldown of that ability to be triggered.

End of transitive's quote

Interesting... can anyone back this up. I usually play Oak and it's no where in the tooltip.

I would like a confermation.

Are you honestly saying you've never been hit by Oak's kamehameha thing and NOT noticed the giant 'STUNNED' in big red letter pop up over your head?

The skill serves 3 purposes:

1) It is an interrupt to disrupt casting.

2) It increases damage taken on the target it was used on.

3) It reduces the movement speed of the target it was used on.

4 purposes. it does damage as well. less damage than most skills, but it has good range and nearly instant casting time so its useful for poking and finishing runners who have escaped your melee range.

yes, Penitence is a swiss army knife of a skill. it accomplishes every possible offensive task at the same time: interrupt, debuff, and damage.

I've always noticed it stopped people from teleporting. I just didn't know if it worked on spells, pots, etc.

Now that I think about it it makes sense...

As a note, it also stops people in their tracks until they re-issue a movement command.  It's a small thing, but occasionally it catches people off guard and you can gain a little ground on them.
