I can see a change that will have to be made already

the way we adjust our resources now ( mil, civ, res ) causes a serious resource allocation problem. for example. say you have one planet that needs to build "soil enrichment" but this planet is a poor one with little population. the entire empire must wait for it to finish, not being able to build ships, or do research while you wait for this backwards little outpost of a planet. we need to have individual controls with a button that we press if we WANT to apply this change to the entire empire.

Ehh if you bring up the planet and click Details (or what it's called, on the left side) do the changes there affect the hole empire? It didnt in the OS/2-version.

At work atm...so I cant check myself

Ummm...I'm a bit confused from reading the above posts and from reading way too many bug reports in the last 2 days...

When you build a ship or social improvement on a planet, you do it for just that planet. Your other planets go on building their projects. The allocation of resources on the domestic policy screen is for the entire empire, so you do want to try to have a balance. When I start out, I usually give highest priority to building ships and research, allocating only enough social resources so that it has the minimum amount. Then, after I've researched photons, I decrease the research allocation, which increases the military and social resources. All of the resources have increased by this time because I'll have increased my population and maybe settled another planet or two.

Mmm but in OS/2 you could change the domestic policy options per planet too...ahh, well you could tell a planet to focus effort in military, reserach or social stuff. If it was a poor planet, that helped.

Or am I thinking of something else now? Duh, my memory isnt that good :) I can install GC Gold when I get home.

frederik understands what I was aiming at. the poor planets are holding back the rich planets. all the planets have to wait if just one planet isn't finished with it's production before you can change the allocation of resources. not good.

Sigh. Guys, don't make me get violent on you.

The details screen isn't even in yet and that was where you could tweak things on a per planet basis.

The spending ratios is identical to the OS/2 version. What is missing is the details screen on the planet screen (there IS a button for it).

There are several million valid concerns right now. :d

Now, if gameplay issues like this still exist in say, Spring, then it's time to talk about it.

And in fact, game ideas are good to talk about now. But one shouldn't assume that because it's not in the game now, it's not going to be in the game. Especially when the original GalCiv addressed this in the same way - the details screen.
