GalCiv unplayable

I just purchased/downloaded GalCiv yesterday. Started playing today. So far it looks like what I wanted MOO3 to be. Looks AWESOME... but, I can't play it. After about 20 minutes of play, every 4-8 turns the game crashes.

Looks like you're having an incompatibility with Bink. That's the video system we use. I would email [email protected] about this, I'm not sure what the steps are to take when there's a Bink problem.

Worst to worst, you can disable every bink except the main menu one, and that one doesn't seem to crash your computer (as it did mine, because of sound card issue), so you should be fine if you just rename (or delete) all the .bik files.

You'd be missing out on a cool part of the game, but it would play just the same, and I'm sure the support people can figure out a solution if there is one :)

Left these 3 files: Menu_Open.bik, Menu_Starbase01.bik, Menu_Starbase02.bik. They are at the standart install (w/o Multimedia). W/o Menu_Open.bik game will not run AFAIK.

bink? not sure what that means. But, I do know that the issue didn't come up at all when I played with a smaller map. Would the provide any clue as to which bink I'd need to whack?

That is why I bought this game. The CEO of the company posting in the second spot after someone posts about a bug/problem they have.

I came here after buying/playing Moo3 and reading thier boards a lot. I heard some rave reviews from people over there, but had not bought this game because it is published by Strategy First (I bought WWII Online release day so I kinda don't like them anymore).

But when I saw how Stardock was so active in thier customer support and seemed to actually care about thier game and customers that I went right out to the store and bought it after reading the boards for an hour or so, and am pleased with my purchase.

Just wanted to let you know that Frogboy. I'd probably buy any game you released now after this based on the performance I have seen here in just the past few days.
