Dreams start and then go black in XP

I can't seem to get dreams to work for me. I load a dream and apply it and I get about 4 seconds of the dream and then my desktop goes black. I have Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra on my system and I thought the codecs from that program would work.

I loaded Windows XP Decoder check up utility and it shows the Cyberlink decoder. I am new to this and perhaps this has already been answered, but I couldn't seem to find it. I found a lot of posts with Vista, but not a lot for XP.

Can anyone give me an idea what to do?

Thanks!!

When that happens to me in XP, I first  apply a default desktop then either double-click on the .dream file I wanna use, or use 'Dream Tasks' or 'Dream Manager' or right-click on desktop>dreamscapes>apply>ok.

One of these usually gets it going for me.

I can't say 100% that this will work.. But since your trying to do this in XP and this is a feature for Vista.  So, I was thinking that you have one of those transform XP in Vista mods.  If so try this..

Windows XP Ultimate DreamScenes and Internet Explorer 8?
XP Ultimate Dreamscenes are based on IE's Active Desktop technology.
With IE8, microsoft marks the abandoning of Active Desktop in detriment of web slices.
This will cause the following dreamscene issues to XP Ultimate users running IE8:

  • First Dreamscene will load fine. Following dreamscenes won't load.
Workaround: Load the desired dreamscene and then log off and on again. Upon login on again the previously loaded new dreamscene will show up.
  • With IE8, XP Ultimate Dreamscenes will use more CPU than usually with IE7.
