I Dodged Snipe?

So I dodged Snipe the other day.

I'm not talking about the Snipe glitch where it hangs in midair or does a few barrel rolls because it can't figure out how to hit Rook.  I'm talking about a straight dodge where I moved out of line-of-fire, the shot missed, and kept going.  Anybody else encountered this?

Please God, replays

I have with the evade/dodge items

Would be tough to pull off reliably, though from my limited understanding of the simulation mechanics anything can be dodged really.  The trebuche shots are a perfect example, and I think all ranged attacks are the same except some fire faster than others (and therefor are much harder to dodge).

I've also seen this done several times and always wondered if it was just a networking artifact or glitch, but the evade/dodge explanation makes sense.

I thought projectiles fired from demigods all home in to the target you cast it upon? At least I think thats the intention.

I was under that impression as well. I've seen the snipe shot adjust trajectory in mid flight to follow a Demigod which just teleported back to heal.

Considering Playdoh's post as a confirmation that projectiles 'should' home in to the target, consider yourself a lucky bastard that a glitch occured. ;)  It will prolly be fixed sooner or later.

I've seen Torch Bearer's fire ball spell or normal fire mode attack do that too. Hell, even Queen of Thorn's normal root "piercing" attack follows the Demigod all the way back to the healing crystal.

The only possibility is that I saw wrong and mistook something else to be that snipe shot. Perhaps the snipe shot is part of the group of projectiles without homing capabilities.

Are you sure it didn't hit one of your teammates?

I'm positive - the sniper was like "did you just dodge my snipe? :O"

I dodged by moving directly behind the reg who was in snipe position (he never should have tried to snipe me from 10 feet away)

The homing I'm used to, the missing I've never seen except when it shows as a glitch..

Well even if it hits, you get the consolation that it wouldn't do that much damage anyway. Unless you have less than 500 hp or something...

Ditto, has to be a bug to be able to dodge it...outrunning an AOE power is one thing, dodging a snipe has to be a bug....

The sniper here was me, and I've certainly never seen anything like this before/after. If it's a bug, is should be reasonably recreatable.

Pretty sure map was Cataract...30yds or so on my side of one of the side flags, sniping at target very close to me, with kestral starting on my Citadel side, and behind me after the snipe cast time finished. I just saw the arrow go *pew* in the wrong direction, and that was that. Maybe it tried to track it's way back around but got caught on the map confines. Certainly odd, and would love to hear if anyone else encounters this as well.

I've done it with mist as Erebus, but never seen it pulled off any other way.  I dunno, it may be that the trajectory adjustment of projectiles is not absolute, and that if you're moving perpendicular to the attack and at a short range from it that it may not hit you.  I suspect it's just a bug, though.

Once I was a little late in getting a pounce off on a teleporting AI. Apparently it didn't interrupt the teleport but still hit him back at the crystal.

Oh, I thought you dodged it by moving perpendicular.  You are saying that you moved behind him before the snipe went off, and the snipe just shot strait through instead?

The homing code might have limitations. Given the OP's statement that he moved *behind* Regulus and the shot fired straight ahead, it's possible the code couldn't make *that* much of a homing curve (180 degrees) and abandoned homing and just fired its default straight path.
