In this multi-national universe it is important for all civilizations to learn of the cultures of their neighbors and as such I feel that it is time for the Republic to share some of its background and customs with the Universe.
The Republic was founded in the Trans-Universal Space Date (TUSD) year of 50461. The founding peoples of the Republic originated from the Sirrus system, a system now littered with the destroyed skeletons of ancient battleships, reminders of the civil war in which the Republic ancestors fought fellow Humans for utter survival. The Confederation, a group of renegade Sirrians, as we were once known, secretly plotted the demise of the Democratic Sirrian Planets or DSP. After years of hiding, the Confederation surprised the DSP by launching a blitzkrieg strike against the DSP. Caught offguard, DS Navy was massacred and billions of lives lost. However, the DSN was able to fight back the armada of Confederation ships and peace was finally achieved years later. Foolishly, the DSP thought that the Confederation had been defeated, and years later the Confederation surfaced again, in larger numbers and conquered hundreds of DSP planets. Finally reaching the capital of Sirrus, the Confederation bombarded the surface of the peaceful capital planet. In desperation, the government of Sirrus launched four sleeper ships, each filled with one million people in hibernation to rebuild far away from the strife that plagued the DSP. Remarkebly, the ships broke through the Confederation blockade and blindly warped out of the war torn Sirrus system.
Awaking on the planet Corusant we began to rebuild our lives, and thus the Republic was founded.
Its been five hundred years since we first touched down on Corusant, we have grown and we have prospered. But we realize that treachery brought us here, and we will never forget.
