The Demigod "Idea" part 6.5

I need your help!

I haven’t posted an idea for a long, long time.  My life kind of got into the way, but I’ve received wonderful and productive feedback from you guys.  So this post is technically part 6.5, but I’ve begun to run out of ideas for a new Demigod, so to speak.

Besides, it’s not like you guys don’t have great ideas yourself, I’m sure.  Maybe it’s because my “wall of text - ZephyrTR” places a nice wall, barring your Demigod.  Do you want your idea to shine, then here’s your chance!

This post here is a petition for you to leave an idea for a future Demigod Ideas I can write-up for.  Credits will of course be given to their respective owner, I’m just here to elaborate it (check my post Demigod Idea part 6, the idea was suggested by kknd2).  Some of the ideas I have seen around are:

Songtress: A demigod of vanity and beauty to hide a hideous heart.

Werewolf: The classic monster badass before the Unclean Beast took its place.

Sphinx: Riddles and mysteries, kind of fits in the Demigod universe, no?

and many other.

Are you brave enough to throw your ideas into the arena of imaginations?  Lets see how it fares.

P.S. People keep saying that Stardock has decided its next 4 demigod, but I haven’t found an official link yet.  Can someone direct me to it?  Thx

Hey, i've been playing demigod the past 3 days. IT'S AWESOME!!!. I have some ideas for new characters:

*First, about the werewolf, i think it should be more related to lord erebus story than to unclean beast's, i mean... it's a kind of classic struggle, vampires vs werewolves

*Then, my idea for a new character is something like a dragon rider. She or he should have a spear, but the knight kind of spear, and the dragon should spit fire, ice, venom or something like that. In fact, it would be really cool if they can combine some skills, like massive stunning with a flamethrower or a wind attack by using the dragon's wings. I would call her or him Balmung, because of the mythical dragon killer sword.

3 days is all you need bro!

Werewolf vs Vampire huh?  Well I suppose story-wise they might link up, but we wouldn't want the werewolf have any advantage over the vampire do we?

A dragon rider eh, that's a good advice, though people have PMed me saying they wanted a dragon, a half-dragon, or a Mighty Power Morphing Dragon (Ranger).  Even so, that would be kind of a parody to Sedna, right?  My only issue with your idea is that the dragon should be fire-wise, or else Balmung would be a Torchbearer wanna-be.  Also, I think the name Balmung doesn't really bring out the Warlord-royalty in a dragon that it deserves.  Got another name?

"Werewolf: The classic monster badass before the Unclean Beast took its place."

I like this idea, maybe take some moves from Dota's Lycan. Shifting into a werewolf sometimes to tip the tide of battle... Or perhaps permanently a Werewolf, like William off Underworld 2. A general boss who infects creeps which turn into werewolves too... Speed (atk and movement) and evasion used to his advanatge.

A dragon would also be a great Demigod, breathes fire, flies short distances etc.

I guess my idea would be a Juggernaut Demigod which can charge into the thick of battle, swing his massive weapon for slow damage but high hits and devastating crits.... Not sure what he would be though xD

Yeah, though I don't think it would be possible to introduce the 'infects creeps which turn into werewolves too" ability, since Werewolves are obviously assasin-type.  But i don't know, can you make a minotaur-werewolf?  Even so, I agree that speed and evasion (or quick regen) should be his pros.

Yeah don't you agree, dragons would totally fit in the Demigod universe, though should it be on the Light or Darkness?

Technically the Rook is the Juggernaut of the game.  But if you mean the Juggernaut from the Spider-man universe then totally we can add him!  (lol)  But really, just saying Juggernaut doesn't really help.  What kind of Juggernaut and what keeps him apart from the rest of the Demigods?

Light, just the way I see dragons

And Juggernaut, something like the blademaster off Dota.

Well, it could be Arion instead of Balmung (this name will be aplied to the dragon instead of the knight). Maybe the dragon and Arion could fight separately, but when Arion its not riding it, he wouldn't be able to use skills. Only can use fire breath, ice breath and wing tornado atack (it sounds like a pokemon atack, but you can suggest any other name for this atack) when he is commanding Balmung. When they fight on their own, Arion may call his dragon to his side again. No matter where you sent it into the map, Balmung would fly to Arion's side again dealing some area damage when landing (area stunning is another possibility).

Well, that's all the corrections i've been thinking for the dragon rider. Please comment!!!

You could have the Dragon and Rider pair up as a way of switching forms, a la Torchy and Queen of Thorns. In one form he could be an Knight with a big sword, moving and hitting faster, while when he mounts his Dragon his Move Speed and Attack Speed are reduced, while Armor, HP Regen, MP Regen, and Damage are increased. In this concept the dragon is more of a large intimidating creature than an agile hunter. Here is a link to my take on a Dragon Knight:

As for the Werewolf, I think he could also take advantage of the form shifting mechanic, and maybe could be a general leading a pack of regular wolves (and maybe werewolves when a demigod is killed) the other way to go is make him a DPS Demigod. Here are a few ability ideas:

Lunatic Aura - Passive - Move speed and attack speed increasing Aura

Howl - Active, medium mana cost - AoE interrupt (possibly stun), very light AoE damage, summons a Wolf minion 3 seconds after casting

Rending Claws - Passive - % chance to cause DoT with regular attacks as the victim bleeds out from wounds.

Infecting Bite - Active - high damage, high mana cost - Has a chance to create a werewolf spawn after the target Demigod dies X seconds after being hit with this attack.

Sphinx sounds boss. Skills / Attributes are cookie-cutter and I doubt there are many skills you couldn't somehow justify with dev-created lore. The key, then, is to design ideally attractive demigods -- ones that are ubiquitous in EVERY other game -- and give them interesting backstories, models and animations and I think the Sphinx is just that. I say go read Yeats' "The Second Coming" to draw inspiration for the backstory.

I also think some ethnic (by that I mean NON-WHITE) DGs would be cool. They don't need to be evidently ethnic (as in hyperbolized black skin or evidently slim eyes) but they should indicate some kind of non-white history and decoration. I think "The Monkey-King" would be a cool idea (and no, I'm not stealing that from DOTA.. .the DOTA item has nothing to do with the monkey-king story and is recognizable only because its a staff).

Also, if you're looking for some good DGs for the dark side, read Milton's "Paradise Lost" and look at some of Satan's henchman... it's a veritable index of all the demons / evil spirits of mythology's history. "Mammon" in particular would be cool if there was a place in the game for a hero with gold-increasing abilities.

A Dragon rider then, pretty much?  That would be like a polar-opposite of Sedna, only he's riding Balmung at certain times.  That could work!  My only issue is that the Demigod was supposed to just be a dragon.  Maybe something like the Dragon-folk from Magic the Gathering.

Just read your take on the Dragon Rider.  Though I think the Background could use some tweaking, I liked where your're hitting at with the Dragon Rider stats/abilities.
As for the Werewolf, I know for sure he's gonna be a DPS Demigod, but right now we need to make him appealling and unique, like the other existing characters.  Looking at your suggestions reminds me of the Unclean Beast.

Nasareth

Sphinx sounds boss?  Do you mean he's the DG of sounds and waves?  I suppose I could work around that, though I imagined her a bit more "sophisticated".

That is a good suggestion.  We need to spread the ethnic background much more.  Got any other suggestions?

I like the sound of "Mammon", I'll check up this index right away.

Ooo, check out the idea I just posted for a "thieving" type character.

Here it is.

End of quote

I parse "Sphinx sounds boss" as "The Sphinx character sounds as though she would be a really boss idea." where "Boss" means "neat," "cool," or whatever.

Oh I see.  Then what would be the Sphinx's appealing abilites?  So far I can't think of any yet.
