AI response to Alliances

I've played a couple games now where I've won with the alliance victory. Both of them were ones where I had alliances with two other races.

I got to thinking about it, and even though I was militarily under powered in respect to both of them, they had no qualms about allying with me.

Has anyone ever had an AI reject an alliance offer? Or if you offer them alliance, and you demand something else from them, they give it to you? (I could see this if you are a much bigger power than they are.)

It seems to me, that all you have to do is offer it to a race your close with, and they accept, no questions asked. Anyone else have any similar or different experiences?

Did you notice that deals that gonna work become green? You could always know if they'd take it before actually asking. When you can offer an alliance, they already are "close" towards you and are quite likely to accept the alliance. To get someone close, it helps to have a similar alignment, to be big, to have trade-routes with em, to make deals were they get more than they give.

In 1.03 I found it to be much easier to achieve Alliance Victory than it is now.

I had to offer alot besides just the treaty of alliance
to get one last game.

I think i gave up a tech and a tiny worthless planet :)

Interesting Duglis. What difficulty did you have the AI set on? Maybe this is something that the AI is wiser to the more difficult you make them.
