Tuesday's update notes

We just published a new update today that should clear up a lot of the problems people had with the Monday update.

HOWEVER... it is only half of the solution.  The other half has to do with the server database which we are increasingly thinking has been a major source of our pain and why things work "great" with a few users but become a nightmware when lots of users get on.  The good news is that the change won't require any updates to the game, it'll just suddenly "work" much better. They're looking at it right now though.

And this..'server database' problem you guys think you have, how could that be fixed? and in a very rough estimate...how long?

Would be nice to know :)

There seems to be a problem with custom games now, where if a guy cant connect to someone...he just stays on the connection tab....and subsequent folks who try to enter will also have to try to connect to this fellow who is stuck there. They wont be able to connect to him because hes connection is a failure...and it will go on and on. Until you rehost.  Player fix: rehost until everyone can connect on the first try, and beg nobody with a bad connection gets stuck on the connection tab. \

Hopefully some of that was fixed with this, this was introduced with the 5/11 patch too.

Nice job getting the patch out early(before the kids get home from school and start blasting you on the forums). :D  

Unless this doesnt work either. In which case, Ill be back here to blast you myself. ;P

Its made absolutely no difference to me what so ever, it worked on sunday now i cant play in any online game.

Well basically, until the server fix is in, you're going to have trouble. This server issue is apparently somethign that has been a major part of the problem since day 1. It's not our server (it's all licensed libraries) so it didn't occur to us until today that so many of these issues were related to that.  They're looking at it now.

Erm i tried the beta patch on sunday and pulled it because no one was playing online, so i went back to the standard "current" normal version and although it crashed sometimes I could play games.

I understand your trying frogboy and I do commend what you as a dev is doing, posting on forums is almost unheard of for the games I've seen recently.  However if its just a case of too many people trying to get online, why wasnt the redundancy put in place??

Plus as a retail version this game isnt even out in europe yet!? Whats gonna happen when my fellow european players hammer your servers too? Mind you the bad press your getting is gonna hurt sales and although I can see your trying i wont recommend this game to friends until its fixed.

So your saying that Raknets (might be incorrect) libries are causing you & us pain & what is the corse of action to ammend this issue?

Still nothing. Since day 0 I haven't played once. Perhaps it is a combination of my provider (German Telekom) and the router I am using (Speedport 502V), but I usually everything works fine.

Well, guess I still have to wait a bit :/

Hey Frogboy,

Appriciate all your hard work. Just wondering if you and your team have ever experienced this. ( My friend and I had this happen to us last night)

Player A creates Game, Player B joins game, and is Teams with Player A.

PLayer X joins Player A's game, Player Y joins player A's game and Teams with Player X.

Team A,B Vs Team X,Y

Part way through the game Player X quits from the game, and AI takes over for player X.

A short while later Player Y quits from the game, however, at this point things get weird because not only did AI take over for player Y, but it also appeared that Players A & B had been disconnected from each other, and are continuing to play their own now seperate games with an AI team mate, and AI opponents.

The transition was seemless, we had no idea we were playing our own seperate games until my partner asks me in vent "Are you attacking that oak" and I say..... uhhhh no.

Then on top of that the stats for the game got weird. Apparently I being player B was playing for the oposite team.
