New chum questions (Terraforming planets)

Is terraforming ever available? I have come across soil enrichment and habitat improvement. I have not researched all of the tech tree in my few games but I have researched quite a bit and have not found terraforming. Is it ever available?

(I hope so. Turning a worthless planet into a gaia enriched paradise was one of the pleasures of Master of Orion ). :)

terraforming is pretty late along the tech progression, but it does eventually become available.
sorry i can't quote you the quickest path to get there.

Looking at GCTech.TECH right now...

Terraforming requires Artificial Life, which requires Replication, which requires Transporters, which in turn requires
Molecular Medicine and Warp Drive.

Molecular Medicine requires Genetic Mapping, which requires Organic Piercing, which requires Zero Gravity Research, which requires Medical Theory.

Warp Drive requires Antimatter, which requires Impulse Drive, which requires Cold Fusion, which requires Propulsion Theory.

Terraforming tech lets you get to Evolution Control, which lets you build the Galactic Wonder "The Terraformer", which -- judging from the data file -- should give you a 10% PQ for your entire empire (and +7% cost you 8 race points!), I think. It also should give a bonus to the planet's economy and influence (something like 10% each). Terraforming each individual planet gives a 20% PQ at a cost of 1000 IU (?) (it's 20 times that of, say, Habitat Improvement, just not sure whether it's IU or not).
