New Demigod Lycan

I think it would be cool to have a demigod who is able to shift into three different forms. Lion, Wolf, and Bear. The talent tree would branch in those three main directions, each form of course having a different overal function. The lion having great speed attacks, coupled with an overall aura to increase damage of surrounding units, the wolf agility boosts, and bleeding attacks, coupled with boosts in surrounding units speed and speed of attack, and the bear having knockback and strength attacks, coupled with the ability to increase surrounding units damage.

Other skills could be added to the list as sub skills of course. Just a thought.

true when thinking demigods, animal shapeshifting abilities does come to mind. i would like to see something like this in game....

However...

change the name.  nothing screams DotA rip off like naming a character right from the game.  try look up some of greek or norse mythology.  Loki was known for his ability to shapefshift so maybe some variation of his name.  but not lycan.  for the love of god... not lycan.

I was thinking about maybe a hero that has healing powers, but not as good as sednas, that can switch over to a werewolf for better attacks, but not as good as Unclean Beast.   Kinda like how the Torch Bearer switches between Fire and ice.  Have this hero switch between healing and attacking. The transoformation would be kinda cool.   Just a thought.

can we call him lycanthrope?  or Druid?

Which reminds me I thought of a really good idea for a hero called moon archer, she can cast beams from the sky like satellite strike in C&C, and gives a ranged dmg buff.  More info to come.

Wolf? Bear? Diablo II LOD? Hehe.

Yea, if a Mage is in the makes, a Druid would also be a cool and kinda logical addition. Power of Nature anyone?

The problem with 3 forms should be reasonably obvious. Unless he was given a 5th slot for spells, you would either end up with 2 buttons wasted on shifts at all times (that's 2 attacks per form. Bleh.), or he would have to shift through one form to get through another. This means that if the cycle was lion->bear->wolf, and you wanted to go from lion to wolf, you'd waste time in bear form. Gross. Even if he was given a 5th key, this would mean that his attacks would be spread out amoungst his three forms, meaning he would spend a LOT of time shifting.

Also, if you didn't put his shifts into a cycle, he would have 2 abilities per form, times three forms, equalling six activated abilities. That's the same amount of actives as TB, who has only 2 forms he needs to switch between.

Finally, the skill point distribution would be rough at best. Unless every build excluded an entire tree, or there was a low amount of skillpoints per ability, he would end up with abilities that were plentiful, but ultimately worthless.

While entering a Lycanthrope type character is interesting, I think that in order to actually be playable in the game this character would require some major reworking. Sorry mate.

I think that the form changing mechanic used for TB and QoT should be expanded. I tried to do just that in my demigod idea (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/352616).I just feel that there is a lot more that can be done with the basic idea that TB and QoT have.

If the forms were on a cycle, it would encourage specialization and discourage mid-battle transformations.

I think mapping them to two different buttons would be awkward for this particular idea, for example: if you are in Wolf form you would have two buttons to switch form, one into Lion (hotkey 3) and one into Bear (hotkey 4). Say you turn into Bear form (hotkey 4), now, logically, the button that was previously used to turn into Bear form would activate Wolf form (hotkey 4), but what happens if you then turn into Lion form (hotkey 3)? The Lion button becomes the Bear button (now hotkey 3) thus changing the spot where the Bear button used to be. If you were to switch back to Wolf form (hotkey 4), the Lion (now hotkey 4) and Bear (now hotkey 3) buttons would be swapped from what they were at the beginning of the match. This would be very confusing for memorizing which keys are which ability, a very important factor (IMO) to learning a Demigod.

Right on. I was just sayin... lol Im not a developer, or I would've put more than the thought of it in. Was just seeing if anyone else thought the character idea would be a good general idea. But good feedback. Maybe do two forms, and a nature healing path?

Anyway. I think a shifter with some decent attacks would be sweet. :)

If you make the DG more passive ability oriented, it might work.

I had a similar idea of a shape-shifting DG where all ability buttons were different forms and each one would have a different auto-attak (some melee, some ranged, ect...), but their strength was in the passives they had.  Didn't develop it enough to post, but oh well...
