Custom Games

What's the point of the rest?

Alright. I'm really trying to figure out the point of playing Pantheon or multiplayer Skirmish here.

In my experience, at least one person fails to connect. One person almost ALWAYS get stuck with an AI. If the game hates you, then you wotn even get an AI...and it'll be 1v2.

These issues don't seem to exist in custom games. Am I the only one who notices this? Or is the problem on my end, and the connection info window just fails to notice this?

The problem is not on your end. Pantheon and Skirmish are a lot buggier than Custom games at the moment.

So why do people bother with Pantheon?

I would think that they do it because it's all we have as far as 'competitive play' goes.

People love ladders.

I would be all over it if the stats recorded properly.

Random teams aren't competitive. If there was a team automatch mode, that would be competitive. Until then, the only competition in my eyes is pre-made vs pre-made.

Pre-mades would be the most competitive, but only if you have a pre-made team. For the rest of us that just want to be able to log in and play a close match without one side dominating the other the ladder is our only hope.

Currently neither of these options are really avialable. The Clan Wars content will give us pre-made vs pre-made, Custom currently leans towards "me and my friends" vs some random people.

And Pantheon and Skirmish have to few people waiting to play to have some real matchmaking going on. Let alone the messed up stats. I mean they added the feature to see how many others are waiting for a game and when there is only 3 other people and it throws me in a 2 vs 2 how much match making was really going on there???

The Random Team ladder in warcraft three was pretty dang competitive.
