Sedna's Silence

Does any regular Sedna player actively use in their builds? I tried it last recently, and Silence really did not feel as though I was getting any benefit from it.

Use it as an interrupt effect, not a silence. Pounce, silence, pounce ftw.

O.o??!!

It is an anti-sedna/QoT/rook/erebus/TB/oak skill. Pop it in the right moment, all hell break loose.

If you are not feeling any benefit from it, that means you used it wrong.

It's best used as a quick interrupt to cancel abilities with obvious graphical wind-ups... i.e., a fireball or a hammer slam.

It is used. How often, I'm not sure.

edit edit: sort of... I must have had the page cached or something.

I use the silence ability once i get my heals to a good level or when im high enough to sacrifice a point for this ability. I didnt really notice much either. I think it can be useful but mainly noticeable with a magical guy like torchbearer. You can silence him then hes useless. Although i never thought of using this as an interupt i guess it can be used to stop the attacks well.

yep, forums buggered and can't see replies till you reply youself.

it's a good skill as it really confuses people who don't know why they can't cast. plus the interupt is nice.

i use it every single game. i couldn't imagine playing without it

Well when she runs up to me and silences me in the middle of a TP, or just before I was going to use foul grasp on her, it sure feels to me like she's getting a benefit! :D

If someone ever silences you, you'll be amased how annoying that can be. As a Torchbearer or Lord Erebus, who depend on spamming attacks, you'll be pounding your attack keys until you can attack again.

I play Sedna often and I've certainly thought about using Silence over Healing Wind. I haven't really gotten around to it, though, and I haven't seen people using it either, but it could be quite powerful. For instance, it could prevent heals/mists/sigils in critical moments and lead to kills. The best part is that i's AoE.

Edit: again, I saw no prior replies before posting. This is very weird.

It's handy to stop Oak and QoT from shielding, and for retreating demis from using the speed staff.

Gotta get in real close tho...

The difference with Silence isn't really noticable, since you arent on the receiving end of it, but when you are, it's a royal pain in the ass. Combined with Pounce you can control a DG for a fair bit.

There's an audio bug with silence which I find rather amusing.  On low fidelity and system reverb off (settings I use now, my audio card sucks lol), whenever sedna uses silence, ALL sound cuts out.  :)

its situational. you want to use it vs. certain heroes and not vs. others.

the one i will say you should get it against every time is a Hammer Rook.

Now that's what silence should do at max rank.

Silence rank 3: Disables opponents sound and ability to chat.

The trick is you need to alter your build path depending on what you are up against. I don't have a static build for most demigods or always pick the same demigod for each match.

In the lobby I look at my opposition and choose the demigod that will work best against my enemies and work will with my teammates. Then I usually pick the same first 1-4 level skills but after that it's all dependent on what my opposition does.

Sedna for instance: If I'm going up against a TB, Erebus, Rook, or Sedna I'll get at least 1pt in silence. TB and Erebus beign silenced is a big deal because fireball, ring of fire, fire / ice nova, charm are easily interuptible and then they are silenced for 3 seconds which usually makes them second guess their strat and run away. Rook, if he's hammer slam or if he's going to structure transfer it's useful but you can generally use pounce too.

I used silence last night to great effect because I was up against a TB and Erebus. I'm sure it pissed them off a bunch of times.

What do you think about the torchbearers iceball. I think it is much too weak...

The time I tried Silence was too early. (I am assuming from the suggestion at level 14). I was in a game with 4 TBs, two friendly two foe. I allocated the skill at lvl6, iirc - to try to get some counter against range casting DGs.

Add LE with mist to that list. I use it for exactly that, stopping an enemy from healing/shielding/misting while we gank. Use pounce to interrupt and save your mana.
