Is There A GalCiv Tech Tree?

I'm a relative newbie to this game seeking out a tech tree that I can print out - although I have not checked Stardock - does it exist there?

Overall a very enjoyable game, just takes A LOT of time to play through, and the tech tree is VERY complicated - I am inevitably frustrated trying to get Frigates/Battleships - can never remember/ figure out what tech I need in a long string of seemingly unrelated tech's to get there - while the AI's are assailing me w/multiple Frigates/Battleships, all I can do is play defensively w/lots of BattleAxes - this works at the "Normal" level quite fine but I'd like to move up a level . . .

Yes, you can find it at javascout's excellent page:

Look on the lower left where it says "research tree". it can be viewed online or downloaded in pdf form.

With all due respect to Javascout's tree, there's one I find much more effective at http://galciv.bsd.st/zai_h/ It not only looks clearer, but it has all the information you need to play the game (tech benefits, maintenance/research costs, ship stats, etc.) After printing a good four page version of this, tape them together, fold in half and you'll hardly, if ever, need to access the tech database.

One problem though is that, since it contains so much detail that is subject to change, you'll want to double-check whether the stats are up to date, which will again lead you to Javascout's site.

The quick reference might also be useful which contains all the cost, stats etc as a pdf.

I use both the tech tree and quick reference.
The quick reference can also be found at my site http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell
