Don't get more than 2 minions? Don't get skills that upgrade your minions?

thanks for the response zan, but i think he actually told me in game he uses minions.  its a sick, ive played it twice and been annihilated

Well, the QOT can only get 4 anyway (not talking about idols), but if you're gonna max shield and offensive skills you can't really upgrade your minions much, so there's not much of a point.

Well then obviously he isn't maxing shield and offensive skills, at least not all of them.  Minion builds seem quite viable but I haven't seen much talk about those for Sedna or QoT yet.  That's why the OP is asking someone who apparently is having success with one for QoT.

I don't recall him using minions in my match with him, although he definitely had the Cloak of Night general favor item.  Also, he was very insistant on keeping a mid-portal in Ziggurat under enemy control so that he could farm two lanes at once, which ended up getting him five levels over the other guys.  I admit that he made me curious to try out the QoT, myself, with varying amounts of success.

ya zam i don tsee him with minions either, but he told me vbia chat he maxes them.  something about his spec lets him explode on the screen, eat most of your life, and have you running instantly.  its nuts.

just speculation based on the comments in this thread, but he might be using something like this

i've seen that build played before. 

 

summon army at crystal, put up bramble shield. got to open mode. teleport on top of enemy with full army and immediately cast Ground Spikes. the armor debuff will make the minions hit VERY hard for a few seconds.

He's probably maxed out mulch, since he was farming two lanes at once. You can mulch from across the map and gain exp/gold from it, sorta like heaven's wrath.
