Mark of the betrayer

I love using the mark when i play regulus, it is a very usefull skill, but when i play against a regulus and he marks me, i often ask myself: what i can do against it? The damages are not so important, but the speed debuff makes a gimp out of me. i imagine that if there is an Oak nearby, the shield should debuff that mark, but if i am alone, how should i react to it? And is there a way to remove the mark without getting the speed-nerf?

The only way you could remove it by yourself would be to get the symbol of purity for 560 favor, it removes all negative effects on use every 30 seconds

interesting, if i see 2 or more Regulus in the opposing team, i will maybe use that favor item. Because when i am marked, i sense that either way i am screwed:

-if i use an ability before the mark cooldown is over i love a lot of mobility and some hps

-if i don't use an ability i have to wait for the lloooonnnggg cooldown to to finish (and that doesn't protect me from a second mark) and not using an ability is a huge loss as well.

I would like to see a consumable that removes the negatives effects.

I think it should just last like...20-30 seconds. Actually give people a way to avoid the damage.

I see it as minebombgrenade's weaker brother. It would be a great skill if it also interrupted, but now it's just... meh.

Mark's real power is the massive slow it applies.

Grenades also get a slow. And Reg has a passive for it too. Sure, the slow is nice, but feels kind of redundant when you look at Reg's other skills, their costs and their recharges.

since the mark has a really quick cast time (if not instant) and really stops your opponents (-60% on max level) it is a really usefull skill, i always use it when i play as regulus (but i don't use the passive slowing effect i find it not usefull enough for the cost of 1 skill point)

As UB, I love when my opponents go with  MotB.

Why isn't he slowing down? Ooze is a skill, right? No? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

MoB is a must. Does decent AoE damage and the DG gets immeadiately ganked because of slows

Mark is great when Ereubs decides to mist out of desperation. :)

Redundancy is your friend in this game. Stacking so much slow that is puts DGs on moonwalk gets even HP stackers killed. Makes it a lot easier to gank someone when your teammate is in another lane.

I have an interesting question: Is it possible to slow somebody so much they have negative speed? I mean, with MotB, mines, and main, you get 100%, so if you add in a Bite and an Ooze debuff, the enemy would have negative speed. Errors, anybody? (probably capped at 0%).

There has to be some sort of cap. If you had negative speed you'd be moving backwards.

It could either be capped or just calculated mutliplicatively.

You'll never go negative with mulplicative calculation.

e.g.

10 speed + 20% reduction = 10 * 0.8 = 8

10 speed + 90% reduction = 10 * 0.1 = 1

10 speed  + 20% reduction + 90% reduction = 10 * 0.8 * 0.1 = 0.8

nothing in this game stacks up multiplicatively. there is a cap. I can't find the post where frogboy confirmed it. I believe it is -55% off the top of my head.

edit: nvm found it:

its 33%. but i'm pretty sure its bugged. i have had similar cases like this one:

penitence + poison dagger + MOB + shrapnel are a painful experience

That doesn't seem correct, I've been hit by both the Mark and the Mines slow at the same time and even with Wand of Speed active I was barely moving (no kidding, I was CRAWLING across the screen).  It was way over the top.

Of course all of this talk of if the Mark is worth taking or not is a complete derail from the OP.  The question is what can be done about it when you have to face it?  I play a lot of TB and all I can say is there is almost nothing you can do.  Being forced to take a specific favor item just to survive against a particular skill set up (which you won't be sure your opponent is even going to do) is ridiculous (and it's not even a guarantee that it will end up helping you that much).

There is also another favor item that gives a cap to the amount of speed reduction that can affect you, but that is a crap item.

My only option has been to engage the Reg with this set up in a 2v1 situation only, but of course the opposing Reg can just hang near another teammate at all times so...

When I'm marked I just up the priority of going back to base and use a skill next to the crystal.

Or bite a creep when there's no one around. :)

There is a 33% slow cap, but it is broken. (When you get slowed, it takes your new speed into acount and calculates a new 'max slowed speed'.)

I wonder why there is a 33% slow cap on one hand.. while MotB ranks 2/3 have 40/60% slow respectively?

I think it's to counter speed buffs. Like a 60% counters a 20% speed buff, slows for 33%, and wastes 7%. But it doesn't work.

doubt 55% is correct.  i was slowed so hardcore that i was literally crawling, like a previous poster

Also, you get MoB 5 levels sooner than you get the slow from mines.

There is no capping on being slow (the code is broken.)

Do not use abilities easily when faced reg, even with MoB + Mines + Maim combo, you become almost immobile for a while.
