Adjustment Ideas for the Queen of Thorns

The Queen of Thorns isn't terrible, not by any means, but she certainly feels underpowered when compared to the other Demigods.I feel that some adjustments are in order.

Most suggestions will be an either/or sort of suggestion. In other words, not all of the ideas need to be combined to fix the character as doing so would probably unbalance the character.

Shamblers:

  • They seem to have AI issues.
  • Their mana cost is far too high
  • They are too weak for their mana cost

Solutions:

  • Boost their damage output
  • Reduce their mana cost
  • Increase the amount of shamblers summoned and increase the max limit on shamblers by 2x (or maybe 1.5x)
  • [EDIT] Boost their health! This is a must for Shamblers to be of any use whatsoever.

Bramble Shield:

  • The ability has scaling issues.

Solution:

  • Make the shield weaker early on and strong later. This change should be pretty light (approx. 50 to 100 points)

Spike Wave:

  • Damage is too low for mana cost
  • Speed reduction is too low for mana cost

Solutions:

  • Increase the damage output
  • Increase the speed debuff

*Note: Either option would be suitable, but both would be overpowered.

Compost:

  • It's only worth taking if you take Uproot, which isn't very useful.

Solution:

  • Change compost to so that it increases both health and mana regeneration rates for the Queen and her minions.

Uproot:

  • It becomes less useful as the match progresses (when there are less/no structures)
  • It has no impact on other Demigods.

Solution:

  • Redesign the ability! I suggest calling it Strangling Vines; the damage should be lowered and the ability would target both Demigods and Structures. It should have a 1% chance to stun for 0.3 seconds every time it ticks.

Morale:

  • Does anyone actually use these?
  • The Assassin version is far superior

Solution:

  • Grant some sort of benefit to the Demigod themselves; not as much as the Assassin version though.

Ground Spikes and Entourage seem fine, although I am uncertain abou the usefulness of Tribute.

Queen of Thorns is fine. She's not good for killing Demigods, but she's a great supporter with shield, groundspikes and uproot.

Queen is not fine when you totally ignore most of her skill tree.

Queen is great with one spec, but yeah, her other specs are pretty bad.

Personally, I think bramble shield is fine (could use a bit of a nerf early game).

Spike wave is good except maybe the first rank, which could use some love.

Uproot is an okay ability, but the problem is that queen already excels at taking down buildings using ground spikes, making an anti-building ability unnecessary.  I would agree with a redesign option for it.

Beyond that, what you said is pretty much true.  She has one really good niche, now give her another one or two so she has a little more variety in playstyle.

Honestly, I think the queen could use a bit of a buff to her minions (with everybody else except Sedna, minion builds are viable, with the Queen, they are only good as HP and across the map farming tools) and a bit of a nerf on cooldown to shield. I like the concept of shield, but with how fast it can be cast, earlygame she is pretty much invincible. It either needs to cost enough she runs out, or have a cooldown so there is actually a gap between the shield falling and a new one being cast. So instead of having a 7 second cooldown, it could have a 10 second one; still useful for running away, but it's no longer a viable method to just up shield and run in shielding yourself and AAing enemies. Of course, considering it already blocks as much damage as will be blocked by the average Oak invincibility and has a much shorter cooldown, it is a very powerful skill.

So you want to make QoT's the most OP character in the game...

Her bramble shield is fine.

Her minions are a little weak (they need to have more hp or armor), but I think they should be melee so they actually do something when you eat them (they are suppose to do some AOE when you eat them, but since they are never near anything...)

I think her main problem is her uproot is pretty worthless IMO. That needs to do either more damage or be able to stun players or something.

Don't get shamblers and you're fine.

QoT easily solos lanes and towers so efficiently that you'll constantly have to have 2 DGs chasing her to make sure she doesn't wreck your defenses. That is much more devastating than being able to solo other DGs.

Not to mention for those final pushes and 'all one lane' moments her shield and slow and spikes are incredible support.

For Uproot, I'd add the Violent Siege to it (So that Uproot does AoE damage at all levels), scaling the same as Uproot itself. Change the Violent Siege to something else.

No, that's not what I want at all. I'm just putting some ideas out there; ideas that don't need to (and probably shouldn't) be taken together.

If I had to decide how to fix the QoT I'd go with:

  • Redesign Uproot.
  • Change compost to boost health and mana regen.
  • Improve shamblers.

A friend of mine brought up the diea of adding poison to her attacks/abilities.
