Registration Question.

One of my friends has the DVD Retail copy of the game and I was wondering if it's possible to purchase a copy of the game online but use the DVD copy to actually install the game on my system. The reason I ask is we are currently in Iraq and internet connectivity as well as retail availibility is extremely lacking.

If anyone is able to answer this question then please let me know since I would love to play this game as well as LAN play this game over here with my friends. But there is no way I could download it and getting the retail version shipped here would take a very long time.

A retail disc shouldn't care if the serial you use came from the box or from Impulse, so I don't forsee any issue with that. However in order to play LAN you will need to update the game at least once after installing.

Thank you for the reply. How big is the update since not only is the internet here slow (think Dial-up slow), they limit us to a certain amount of data per day. (Plans range from 100Mbit to 500Mbit per day).

I'm not entirely sure how large it'd be updating from 1.0 to current. The most recent major update was around 28mb I believe, so since Impulse just downloads the latest version of the files that are different between your machine and the server, it shouldn't be too much larger than that. If it's a concern, you could have your friend try it first since he already has the game.

I bought my copy online yesterday but haven't installed it yet from my friends DVD because I just realized something. Doesn't the DVD version require the DVD to e in the drive in order to play? If so then I'll be stuck until the game comes via snailmail. =(
