Retardation of AI

I understand the whole concept of having an AI when a player leaves, but can we PLEASE make them so they are a slightly less retarded?? No I take that back can we make them smarter then them being on the verge of retardation? Everytime I play with an AI they feed, they stand in front of towers, they rush in a mob, and I can not stress this enough, they FEED! It just annoys the living shit out of me when I see a bot feeding my team or the other team (more importantly the other team cause I mean cmon who doesn't enjoy being  fed?) :P

Everytime I lose a game because my AI fed the entire game I want to just get up and throw my computer at the wall. Who else is with me on this one?!

Everyone is with you on this one but it's not high on the list of priorities for GPG. They already worked on it for the last big patch and if you read Frogboy's journals you'll see how many things they have on the slate for v1.1 . They aren't going to concentrate on AI again for at least a while because there are a lot more important things missing from the game that the community is ranting should be in. I personally think they're not thinking about it at all at this point because realistically no AI they come up with will ever be a challenge for anyone who's at least half-decent with their demigod. I personally think this is a fact. People will see the patterns and weaknesses in the AI's behavior over time (prolly won't take long at all) and then they'll exploit them and then we'll be back at square one for this problem you're bringing up. AI-CONTROLLED DEMIGODS WILL ALWAYS FEED. It can't be helped and I don't think GPG should even consider working on this right now or anytime soon. There are WAY more important things that need to be addressed. I just don't think it's realistic to be asking for them to work on AI right now.

Yup.  1.1 will have some improvements, but the AI isn't likely to clobber you anytime soon if you have an ok skill level.  I too, would love if they were a bit more interesting... nothing wrong with asking, but just be aware... 1.1 is due out in a few days.  Review the changelog when it is released and pay attention to the AI changes... then rate your experience.

More specifically, are you talking about games in offline skirmishes or tournaments?  It's well known that on Hard and Nightmare tournaments especially your own team made is deliberately at a significant disadvantage to the computers AI and the feeding is way, way worse there.

i think something that would go a long way to alleviating this problem would be to make AI worth zero gold, and only like 10%-20% experience.

Their effect (offensively) on a game is minimal at best, and killing them should be akin to killing a big creep, because that's essentially what they are.

A fix like this would be very easy to code, could be done quickly, and would certainly lessen the THROW MY COMPUTER AT THE WALL effect of having your AI teammate endlessly feed your opponent.

it would be the first step to not let them walk right into your base and be killed by the towers! cant think of a dumber behaviour.

what skill level are the ki guys anyways? i would think of them being "easy"?!

or let them go back if they encouter 2 enemies...

some small behavioural changes and they wouldn´t suck that hard, but i agree with the writers above that they probably will never be a real challenge.

but at least the developers should try (after fixing higher priority issues). maybe if they fix the rankings or develop something new, it would not be necessary to play with ki...? ;)

I want to through my computer at the wall to and the great thing is it's pretty light so I won't be winded from picking it up XO ... JK... But ya they should really do something about those AI's they look like me on my first day of Demigod and let me tell you that's BAD!

Someone made a suggestion in a post a while back about losing gold upon death instead of gaining gold upon kill.  This change would alleviate the problem, but I also support having AI be worth no gold and less exp.  Something needs to be done soon, so the team with AI at least has a chance.

Heres an easy as hell fix that would take them 3 minutes to implement. When somebody leaves, don't let AI take over. Just let the demigod sit in the base, and they can't be killed but cannot move or attack either. Now take the gold that the demigod had and split it between the remaining players. Take the gold that the Demigod makes every second and split that between remaining players also. For example, if it's 3v3 and one leaves, and every demigod is make 10 gold per second, the remaining 2 get 5 extra gold per second.

This also works when there are uneven games, 3v2, etc. This makes it much fairer as the extra gold will even it out.

Let AI DG give no gold or xp when they die.  Crank up the AI DG to Hard mode (as similar to single player).  At least the AI is tougher with buffs, and since no gold or xp, less incentive to hunt them down.

Lol, I remember seeing an AI just sit at base for about 2min he than ran about half way to the map took a small hit and ran all the way back to heal and stayed there for another 3min or so. The best part after he decided to chase an expert Sedna into 4 towers when she was fully healed....sigh
