Help needed with Stardock Central and Galciv updates!

I have just purchased and downloaded Galciv online and installed it. I have also installed the bonuspack, bringing the version number up to V 1.01.029. This morning I installed Stardock Central with the sole purpose of downloading the latest versions. I have followed the instructions on the download FAQ. Unfortunately, when I attempt to download the latest patch under the 'Drengin' tab and click on 'update' button a file of 85mb size begins to load. Is there a way of loading just the changes to Galciv and not the whole program file? It would be ok if I had broadband access, but I only have 56k and this would take many hours.

You're not the first to experience this, others have reported this before you. The update is about 1Mb in size, not 85Mb. Also, you'll get other problems if you go through with the 85Mb update.

I think the most-offered solution is to select Tools->Refresh Application Data in the menu. If that doesn't help, browse around on the forum, and I'm sure you'll find your answer shortly.

I had exactly the same problem. I had originally bought GalCiv at EB, brought it home, installed it, then grabbed the 7mb patch to v1.01 with the bonuspack, and finally installed Stardock Central. Every time I tried to update GalCiv it told me it was an 85 Mb download.

What I did was this:

1) Uninstalled GalCiv
2) Uninstalled Stardock Central
3) Reinstalled GalCiv from CD
4) Reinstalled Stardock Central
5) Let Stardock Central autoupdate itself to RC6
6) From Stardock Central selected update GalCiv to v1.02 (only a 4Mb download!!!)
7) From Stardock Central installed the bonuspack (only about 1Mb download)

8) Breathed a huge sigh of relief and started playing... *GRIN*
