HELP!

Federation ship pack

I downloaded the first edition federation ship-pack from nik Dystolic and was able to have the ship names show up in the list of available ships in the ship designer, but the images don't show up. why is this and where do the picture files go? I was instructed to place the ship and ship templates files into my gc2 games my documents folder.  I have galciv ultimate edition and wonder if there is some kind of incompatibility issue here?

Did I download a version that was too early? maybe I need the one for TOA that has just come out.

Probably. Can you post a link to the mod? It will help me figure out what's wrong with it....

I can only tell you were this miod is located. First of all, go into library , all catagories and search for federation ship pack that will bring up a screen showing different mods for star trek. towards the bottom of the first or second page, you will see an image of a federtation starship and the words "Federation ship pack by DYSTOPIC. This is the mod I downloaded, and I noticed a post from someone who had a simular problem..years ago and who apparently did not get a reply back. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Well, now that I see the thing, severl potential problems spring to mind:

  • This mod requires both KHSM (http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=22) and one of GP's packs (http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=683).
  • This is technically a DA mod. It should work for TA, though.
  • Did you just unzip it into your main folder? It needs to go in a modfolder:
  1. Go to the main game folder.
  2. If there is a folder called Twilight, TOTA, Twilight Of The Arnor, etc. go in there. If not, stay in the main folder.
  3. If there is a folder named Mods, go into it and skip #4.
  4. If there is NOT a folder named Mods, make a new folder and name it Mods.
  5. Start the game in TOTA mode, go to the options menu, and check "use mods". Click on "choose mod" or whatever the button below the black square says, and click "default". Exit the game.
  6. There will be a folder named "default" inside the folder named "mods". Go in there, and click "data".
  7. Put the folders "ships" and "shiptemplates" in there.
  8. Discard the "pics": they are just to show off the mod, and don't have a place in the game.
  • Be sure you are using the "terran" shipstyle.

VERY informative info! thanks I now have alot to go on and I have downloaded the KHSM mod but can't get to the GP lights and jewelry mod. When I copy and paste that link you gave me into the search browser, it keeps telling me no matches found even if I search all catagories.

I have found in my gc2 main folder a mod folder there but not in the twilight  folder.  I then skipped step 4 went into the game and changed to use mods and chose default. when I went into the mods folder I saw both a default and example folder there. there was no data folder in the default folder but there was one in the example folder. Is that were I will need to put the ships and templates?

Put it in the URL bar up above, not the search window. Or just click here.

If there is not one in the twilight folder, DO NOT skip step 4. Make the modfolder inside the twilight folder. There should be a default and data folder in at one, too, after you click "default".

Thanks for the advice on getting to the GP lights and jewelry. As to getting the fed ship pack to work I followed step 4 like you said by:

1. if there is NO MOD folder in Twilight, then I need to create one.

2. I created a new folder in C program files stardock games galactic civilizations 2 ultimate edition twilight

3. I named the new folder Mods just as you said.

4. then I started the game and I clicked the options button.

5. after that I clicked on USE MODS then DEFAULT

When I exited the game and went back into twilight, the MODS folder still is empty and has  no default or data folder.

I have noticed something though:

In my options screen the "black window" you refer to where the default button is located still doesn't show any mods listed even after I clicked default. Could something be wrong with that?

Even though no ship images show up in the ship designer terran style, there is a federation freighter that does! and when I use that ship design it shows me all of the components and allows me to build it! so something is working the way it should amd I'm glad about that but bothered by why the other ships don't load. I have as of last night downloaded another federation ship pack version 3 which is more TA compatable. I HAVE NOT INSTALLED IT YET THOUGH! in order to make shure that I revert everything back to what it was BEFORE I decide to install this ship pack. This MOD I'm talking about installing is:

"Fed ship pack for Twilight, Now with Player Useable Shipstyle*

"3rd Edition to the SF Federation Vessels. Please delete vessels from previous edition because they will not work with the new Player useable ship style. So now when you pick the Federation Ship Style you will start the game with 3 correct Federation Vessels. 26 total vessels and a Federation Race Logo(originally posted to the Library by XISKIO.

The directions for installing are as follows:

Simply unzip files(except for the ShipCfg folder) to their appropriate folders in: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\

Now for the ShipCfg folder:
Do not overwrite your ShipCfg folder! Take the files provided in the pack's ShipCfg folder and copy them to:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\ShipCfg

Backup the older folder if you wish but it won't mess it up.SF Federation Vessels 3rd Editionby AF_Ronin"

I may want to try this MOD, but I will still want to try any other suggestions you have on getting the Dystopic MOD to work.

Dystoptic's mod is not acting as it should. I am beginning to fear a compatibility issue with TA/UA. Although AF Ronin has a reputation as a good modeler and shipbuilder, so I would use his stuff anyway. His instructions are exactly what you need to do.

AF Ronins MOD WORKS!

This MOD does work for TA/UA I took out all of the DYSTOPIC files except those in my owner\downloads file in case I may be able to make them work somehow. When I go into a new game with the Ronin MODS, all of the ships appear and can be built and used without any trouble so far. Hope to get more "enterprise class" ships from him.
