Help! Gal Civ won't start anymore

Hello, been playing Gal civ for a while now without any sort of problems, but I just recently built a new computer and the damn game won't work on it. I've installed and reinstalled several times, with and without patches, and every time the game crashes to desktop immediatly after the two intro cinematics. The computer is a nForce2 chipset, AMD 1700, Radeon 9500 pro, a gig of ram, Audigy platinum soundcard. Any ideas?

I need my fix.

vmorgan: send me your debug.err file.

Also, there is a program called SmartException located under the Free Stuff tab in Stardock Central. If it is running when Gal Civ crashes, it creates a log file called GalCiv.exe.cra that you can also send.

Thanks CariElf, but Iended up fixing it. The problem was I had installed Creative's beta driver's for Audigy, "designed for games". I later installed the stable drivers over them and the problem remained so I figured it wasn't them.

Eventually though I loaded back to a restore point in XP where I had never installed the beta drivers, and after that it worked fine.
