Staff of Renewal + Magnus Rod

This is a really great combo. Staff of Renewal reduces the cooldown of Magnus Rod to 12 seconds. The effects of Magnus Rod last 5 seconds, so this allows you to run at 50% mana cost for 5 seconds with a 7 second gap. Plus, if the map is cataract, the cooldown flag reduces Magnus Rod's cooldown to 9.6 seconds. This combo lets you spam abilities because they cost less mana and all of your ability cooldowns are 20% less. What do you all think?

Sounds good.  Magnus rod is expensive though, and you'll burn up all your mana with renewal in the early game.  I'm guessing it takes a while to get cooking?

Yeah, it does take a while to get working. Once it gets going, though, you get to spam abilities with very few mana problems. The main difficulty with this combo is remembering to hit the Magnus Rod before casting. It takes some practice getting used to it.

The sweet thing about cooldown reductions is that it is based off of the original cooldown, not the current cooldown. In this case, it's a good thing that cooldown reduction is additive and not cumulative. :D

Ok, I just for fun I tried this using TB equipped with a Vlemish, Magnus Rod, and Staff of Renewal. I was able to spam abilities nonstop with a slight loss of mana each time. Here's how it breaks down with ice TB maxed out on Cataract and constantly spamming spells. This is assuming your opponent decides to stay and play with Ice TB. I was too lazy to factor in casting time.

Opponent is constantly under Biting Chill.

Opponent is constantly under Rain of Ice's attack speed reduction.

Opponent is frozen 31% of the time.

Opponent is under Frost Nova speed reduction 51% of the time.

Opponent is under Deep Freeze cooldown increase 71% of the time.

Average DPS from constantly spamming Rain of Ice and Deep Freeze is higher.

This would be even crazier if Magnificent prescence was added. :D

OK so you tie one or two assassins with these items to a Sedna built like this: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/357606/page/1/#2288173 (reply 4)

Give her a Magnus too, as mrappard points out, and deck them all out in trinkets.

Now you restrict your play to maps with Celerity flags and make sure you keep it locked down, and you have a premade team with interesting synergy

That's pretty swanking good. I've got another great way to exploit this mix. It falls in the range of "gaeimbahaxs," IMO. :D Are you interested in trying this out, Kestrel?

P.S. It's fairly easy to hold the celerity flag on Cataract. Most people go for the gold flag anyways.

Hey, what if we capture THEIR celerity flag? Ahahaha, that would be funny. Suddenly cataract becomes imbalanced in favor of the forces of light :D

I'd be happy to

Just as soon as I can figure out why the 1.1 hotfix not only makes me crash more but also blue screens my pc every time :typo:
