New Gamemode - Tug of War

In Tug of War, an object will spawn in the middle of the map, which can be captured by either team. If a Demigod moves near it, it will be captured and the object will begin to slowly make its way, on a set path, to that team's base. If the Demigod continues to stand near it, it will move faster, and the more Demigods that stand near it, the faster it will move. How many flags the team owns in the map also affects its speed. More flags means faster movement toward their team's base, or slower movement toward the enemy's.

The objective is to move the object to your team's base either one or multiple times.

This would end up being kind of similar to Team Fortress 2's Payload game mode, though the objective is to move the object toward your base, rather than the enemy's, and the gamemode is symmetrical.

I think this gamemode would really work on all of the maps, though I had Exile, the Crucible, and Leviathan in mind when I thought of this though, since they are designed in a more curvy fashion than some of the others. The object's set path could even be changed, either short, medium, or long, which would change how direct a path it would take to your base...or the enemy's.

Let me know what you people think.

Very interesting concept and I think it'd be a nice fun thing to do to take a break from conquest and the other game modes :P . Props for bringing this up!

I like the idea, thought of reverse-Payload immediately (and Payload is my favorite mode in TF2).  Also seems like a reversed UT2004 mode Bombing Run, which was also made of win.

Just one thing about moving it into your own base -- once it's past the towers it'd pretty much be yours.

Good idea. But i personally would like it like payload, except that it wouldn't be a 1shot kill to the enemy. Instead of an object it could be for example a monster that has a fairly huge amount HPs and attack power, but very VERY slow movespeed and an attackspeed like a giant that can only attack the enemy citadel. When its killed it steps into the ranks of the team who killed it, and starts moving towards the opposing teams citadel. Maybe it'll gain more movespeed and attackspeed when more of your demigods are alongside it and maybe it loses movespeed and attackspeed when enemy demigods are near it. (when i say very very slow movespeed i mean like 2.0 or something like that, in 5v5 if all 5 friendly demigods are near it maybe it would have 4.0 movespeed and if all 5 enemy demigods then maybe 1.0 movespeed) Maybe it would work if each lane had its own object/monster to move toward a base. Dunno just some suggestions ^^. Definately love the concept tho and i'd be happy when whichever version of this mode would be implemented.

I like your idea Drake-Cid, and it also fits with the point that cwsault made, that in my gamemode, once the object is past your team's towers, you pretty much score. If the object were to be moved into the enemy base, like Drake-Cid said, it would also help to intensify the game, since the enemy demigods would be respawning right by the objective.

YOU MUST PUSH LITTLE CART

interesting, but I think it would have to act more like payload, otherwise it would be to hard to come back from, depending on the speed of the objet. Imagine this scenario, two teams move at the object, and they would obviously calsh at the object, one team loses a player, and so the other 2 have to retreeat. Now the team in control of the object can either push forward to try and get the other team farther away from the object, or all crowd around it to make it move faster. either way, if the object moves in range of the first set of towers (which is fairly close to the middle of the map in many cases) than there is almost nothing that the other team can do, asuming this happens before the other team gets to around lvl 5 or so (the earliest most demigod teams can take out a set of towers asuming first level tower health and fire power has been purchased) the move speed would have to be very very slow.

If it were like payload, it obvious that no low level demigods are going to be pushing this object straight to the citadel. I really like this idea though.

I love the concept, and think it would be a fantastic diversion from the standard gameplay model. The idea of Towers, however, seems somewhat counter-productive to me; I'd remove them all together.
