After reading that you can get Moo3 for free from Amazon yesterday, I was thinking about if I should get it in spite of all the bad stuff I've read about it.

Hell, why not? I mean, it's a free game, what more could you really ask for? If you don't like it, you got paid two bucks to buy a christmas gift for your least favorite friend. LOL If you like it, you got paid two bucks to have another game to play. I don't see the downside here! ;P

I think the best I've seen so far said 'GalCiv, finally a 4x space game that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand'. It definitely a more simplistic design than the MOO series, but is damn fun nevertheless.
