Masive tearing, probably direct x...

So the game runs perfectly up until I start a game... once the game starts I see lots of colors flashing and things like that.

I had the same problem in FarCry 2 and I switched the video settings from Directx 9 to Directx 10 and the problem was fixed right away. I don't see any option to do so in demigod though.

I'm running vista 64 bit, HD 4830. I can give more information or post a dxdiag log if necessary.

Tearing is usually a result of V-sync being disabled.  You may want to try and enable it in your video card settings.  You can also install and run the program 'RivaTuner' and then search (from the Windows button in Vista)  for D3D.  Run the D3D program and check the 'Force Vsync' (and triple buffering) options.  This will ensure Vsync is enabled.  Although, from the description of flashing colors it sounds like it very well could be a different issue altogether.  I'm sure you've been told this before, but make sure your drivers are up to date.

One thing to make a note of, if you are using XP, the native refresh rate is usually set to 60Mhz if you switch resolutions if you have not set that in your display properties. So... if you pick that resolution in game but choose a higher refresh rate, you can experience tearing.

Not sure of your situation, but one thing you can try is... when you are at your dekstop, change to the resoultion you play DG at and pick set the monitor refresh rate in advanced properties. Make sure it matches what you choose in game and are capabale of playing.

eg: Setting native resolution to 75 Mhz at some specific resolution from the desktop means you should pick 75Mhz or lower at that same resolution in game.

Well I dropped a dxdiag to the e-mail, I'll post it here too.

Btw, I have the latest drivers, I have vsync on and my hz set to 60 just like in-game, etc, etc... I'm fairly sure it's some issue with direct X.

You may also want to list all the ATI settings you have enabled.  Your system looks very similar to mine, yet I have no problems.  Do you happen to have any additional programs running in the background by chance, or play in windows mode?

Your ATI drivers are rather old - the newest are 8.632 (9.7s), and you're on 8.14.
