Kudos to Stardock Yet Again!

I own many Stardock branded games.  When I was sent an email telling me I could join the Demigod beta by buying it as a pre-release, I thought, why not?  I like every other game I've purchased through Stardock.  Well, I loaded it up and tried out the beta a few times though it was a pretty busy year for me and I spent most of my free time playing Sins of a Solar Empire instead.  Anyway, when the full game finally came out and I got my box and CD in the mail for Demigod, I went ahead and installed it and played it a little.  I hadn't used it since the early beta.  While it was a nice game, it wasn't my sort of game.  I realized I wasn't going to play it and I had spent a bunch of money on it.  So I asked Stardock for a refund.  They were great about it, telling me I could send the box back and get a complete refund minus my shipping costs. 

It is this kind of serivce that will insure that I continue purchasing games from Stardock.  I deleted Demigod from my computer, sent the box in and got a refund.  Because they will stand behind their products and even if I just don't like the final product I can get my money back I will continue to buy their products.

And not having to put up with useless copy protection is sure nice too.  Great job Stardock!  You have made me one very loyal customer!  I will be telling all of my friends about this, because that is the best advertising!

Wow.. Sounds like a good service!

I like the fact that I dont need a cd as I have reloaded windows on my pc numerous of times. I just load up impulse and hit instal : )

Dont see why some make a stink of it (unless they want to pirate it)

Congrats to you and the SD staff who pulled that off,

I have a lill story of my own but not all that positive unfortunatly. I still think stardock is a good company but I never could manage to have them show some flexibility in my situation.

Remember when they did the 20% coupon on all games a few weeks after demigod release for demigod owners? I got a few days too late. Asked if they could kindly just extend it for the purchase I wanted to make, but the only person that kept answering me never managed to show flexibility.

You got more luck than I did. I always beleived SD would do well but that last run with sales took my faith in them away unfortunatly.

Similar story: I bought a racing game from Impulse because they listed the release date as like Sep, 24, 2009 so not being one up on racing games I figured sure, why not, I like racing games and the only way to buy a multiplayer racing game is to get in on the ground floor before the community drys up and blows away.

I loaded up the game, and went into multiplayer to find a deafening silence and absence of any other players.  I went researching on the net to find out that the game had actually been released in 2007, and so I guess Stardock must have added their own release date of when the game was made available on Impulse.  So I asked for a refund and sure enough in 2 days I got one.  I was very pleased that I didn't have to go jumping through hoops or having to spend more time than normal to explain the situation.  I simply told them the facts, they listened (read) and refunded the purchase price.

I've had to try to get refunds before from Direct2Drive and it was a nightmare and they refused and finally after going back and forth about 8 times in email they relinquished and were *kind* (cough, cough) enough to issue me a credit for a game that they clearly listed as having multiplayer, but which the publisher had long since shut off the multiplayer servers.

If Impulse would just get more games added in, I'd do more shopping here and far less over on steam.
