New Dream Program

I personally do not care for the New way I have to use to put a dream on my desktop.  It used to be, up and until yesterday that I could right click on my desktop and put my Dreams into action, now I have to open Impluse, click on Deskscapes, and then choose from a LONG LINE of dreams.  Where before I could see many dreams in a large window... I now have a short line of dreams I have to scroll to the side to find the dream I am looking for.  What happened to my right click and personalize?

I also used to be able to simple double click on a dream and it would go to my desktop and evern that does not work.  Why make these changes to something that was simple to use in the first place?

NOTE:  I uninstalled the New Version and was able to go back to the way things were!  No update for me thank you.  I do not like the new version of Deskscapes.

Or you could make a shortcut for Deskscapes and put it on your dock/pin to startpanel/have on desktop and thus skip the Impulse bit O:)

And hey.....by the way:

In the Desckscapes configuration you can select which folder is being used. Put your most used dreams in one folder and then you don't get a long list ;)

You're running a BETA version of deskscapes, you're basically asking for problems :D . Double clicking is not currently working, but as far as I've heard it'll be included in the release version.

It would be really great to be able to tag and filter the available dreams though (And blinds in WB, and icons in Iconpackager... Do you see what I'm getting at? ;) ).

Black_brd ... it's not a she it's a he.  Peggy is short for Pegusis.

Again, like I said, if it ain't broke don't fix it.  I tried to make a short cut the way 2of3 suggested before they suggested it, and I can't.  I am quite fimilar with computers seeing I've been working on them since 1982.  I am quite fimilar what a shortcut is and how to make them as well... but when the program you are in won't let you create a shortcut... even a drag and drop did not work.

Personally as far as how to open and set a dream... I'd leave these things alone, they seem to work just fine the way they are now and last week and the week before that, this new change some yahoo wants to make is not a good change.  If the yahoo who is making the changes is the same folks who created the program in the first place... Leave it alone, the program works fine, no changes needed to it.

Thank you,

Peggy

That has changed in Windows 7.  It is not like Vista, and the drop-down menus for the most part are gone.

One of the big new advantages of the DeskScapes UI is you can now preview .dreams before applying them.  That in itself makes the new UI the best imo.

Shown here both pinned to startpanel and added as shortcut to desktop

Yepp, until you have 300 dreams installed, by then the new UI has lost its flare, preview or not. Which is why tagging and filtering would be great.

The new program is excellent and most of the explorer integration will be back, remember Stardock had said the number one priority was to get the programs working in Windows 7, then standardising the interfaces and after that returning and improving various features that had to be temporarily dropped in order to attain Win 7 functionality. It is after all a work in progress and a 3.0 beta and not a 2.5 RC with enhancements.

I wish I had been informed Deskscapes 3 was a beta. Impulse forgot to mention this. It isn't listed in Vista programs and I can only get dreams to display full screen by accident. Sometimes it works sometimes not. The new UI is nice but is not wallpaper anymore, just a window. I paid for the new version but wish I had the old one back. Sorry to complain but this crippled a great program. Regretfully,  metal1_99

PS- Just wanted to add Deskscapes 3 seems to work well in XP. It gets installed to Windows and works fine. It seems to be a Vista problem with the new version.

Deskscapes 3 is NOT a beta.

Deskscapes 3 has a new UI which can be opened from the start menu or right clicking the desktop and picking the configure deskscapes menu option.

To apply the dream click apply changes at the top of the window.

As soon as I loaded Deskscapes 3 on my win 7 machine, my fences stopped working.  If I disable deskscapes, fences works again.  Is anyone else having this problem?

Fences Pro is a beta and may have issues.
