Do minors get all warlike if you put a starbase in its sector?

In my current game I have a string of trade enhancing starbases across my territory with an empty sector also containg my trade enhancing starbases. All of my trade goes from one end of my empire down this corridor to an Alexian world. I am thinking if I put a starbase in the Alexian sector I could get further trade multipliers.

Would the Alexians eventually attack if I did this?

(Background information: We are allied, their fleet is bigger than mine, they rely on my trade for 39% of their income, neither of is at war with anyone, neither of us need feel threatened by anyone as we are both much more powerful than the number three galactic power, difficulty level is beginner).

No. Besides, non offensive starbases don't any of the other races.

Maybe only if you start installing cultural modules on it. They are one of the minors who have lower cultural resistance (the others will just laugh at you).

But I personally have not seen any comms initiated by minors or minors declaring war on me.

Thanks gents. Thought I read somewhere that any major civ was prone to attacking any starbase in a sector occupied by them, wondered if it was the same for minors. Umh, must have missed the fine print about attacking only in response to culture modules. :)



BTW RayChua. I am actually scared of flipping the Alexians because I would lose all of my trade income and thus a huge chunk of my total income if that Alexian world changed hands. (Scared enough that I actually built and gifted them a fully decked out starbase in their sector, culture enhancers, military enhancers, defences etc etc to stop flipping and ward off third party attacks). The whole point of this game is to see just how much extra revenue I can squeeze out by funneling all trade down a corridor of starbases.

That's a good move, Peter. Alexians are cultural wimps (for minors).

I believe you had remembered to pack in all the cultural modules in one turn before gifting it, else you would just be accelerating the flipping. :)

Oh yes RayChua. I accumulated constructors until I had enough to put all culture modifiers in on the same turn that I gifted the starbase. :) I have flipped those boys by accident from a long way in a previous game.
