3v3 helo

arrrrrgh - I hate double regulus

Hey All

Played 3v3 with a group of friends last night and got really frustrated with a double regulus with sedna. Basically both regs went the mine spam with snipe. I have no issue with one reg - I can avoid the mines and snipe you can play around... But the two of them is insane. The rest of the night I at least felt I was in the game against other demigod combinations but two reg is stupid. They walked around together virtually the entire game, dropped 1 set of mines each and then try to bait you into them. But they collectively still have 2 sets of mines to throw to hit creeps and kill minions, not to mention the random double snipe that hits you if you get slightly low on hp. Basically no matter what we played if two of us were there we couldn't really even touch them and at sum point you will get hit/walk into mines. I generally play oak/UB and my buddy plays Erebus. So the entire game ended up being if we run upto them they hide behind their mines and wait for your you to walk through them while they ping. Then they drop some more and hide behind towers. If you turn around and run, the one has maim to slow you down to kill you. You can try and avoid the mines but the extra distance just means they mine another area and hide behind that... We were ahead for most of the game on war score but eventually the number of free kills they get for you running through a minefield followed by double snipe meant they just became too powerful.

Oak is useless against them because he just can't catch them. You can shield but then your minions all die to mines and you have no means to slow them to catch them while the towers slice you apart. UB can spit them but you can't deal any other damage so you can't clear them out the lane. Erebus can warp in but then has to run over the mines to escape again. Sedna can't deal enough damage to them and they deal more than enough to kill her. And even if you get close and hurt one badly they drop a minefield to cover their tracks...

Any help would be great.

get monk idols as any general and run them over the mines. when u play oak or erebus always get monk idols at teh start of the match as a basic precaution. always send one monk at a time, so u can remove his whole set of mines with 1 monk idol.

as oak you should also get pentience to try and interrupt the regs casting the mines.

if you dont know where they have placed the mines use a totem of revelation on the ground to see invisible mines.

hope that helps man.

I juste played a game yesterday against 2 Reg. Remember Reg's main weakness is he cant' stand 1v1 against almost all other DG, especially generals. With low armor, low HP, he 'll often try to attract you into towers; never go there except if you're at least level 5 & if you feel you can kill him. Just keep the flags and up your warscore; get a little back, they'll approach the flag and chase them until they get to their tower, then back, etc.

Mines are a problem? Send your minions into it, like StAcK3D_ActR said. Snipe is a problem? Never get under a certain amount of life.

If your builds are good enough and you stack sufficient amount of life & armor, they shouldn't be able to keep control on flags against you.

Why use monks to remove mines when nightcrawlers do the same for free

well yea ofc.

Lol...

My friend finds it easier to walk over it with his demigod :P

Guess the frustrating thing is that it requires alot more micro to not get insta-killed versus their dump mines.

Thanks

Double Regulus can actually be pretty good. Until 5th level.

If I'm not mistaken, I was on this match with you yesterday. We were double UB + erebus versus double Reg + Sedna. Their strategy was the same you described and they got a lot of kills. But we won that game in the end, as they have to stick together to be efficient, and spent all their money on equipment. We had more control of the map, upgraded the citadel, when we hit giants it was game over for them.

Stack3d_ Actr's advice is what I normally do when I'm a general.  Having one monk in front of you and the other behind you is a great way to clear the mines.  The one in front eats them all, then the one is back can still heal you.

If you're assassin, you can simply try to take a more indirect route toward the reg.  Especially in the early game when they can only drop 1 or 2 mines at a time.  Dont chase them directly, as they most likely dropped the mine on that path line.   Click to the left or right of them so youre still moving toward them, but end up to one side or the other.  You'll miss a lot of mines that way yet still be in auto attack range or spell range.

It's hard to win most 2v1 situations.  Independent of counters like minions over mines, keep 1 demigod there to keep the regs from doing to much damage, and the rest of your team has a 2v1 on the rest of the map.

You can also make it a 2v2 situation, bring in a teamate and wail on one reg, he will need to run meaning there is only 1 attacking reg against 2 demigods.  just be sure to not bunch together so your mine bait.  The warp cloak is also nice for hoping over (or out of) mines.

2 regs? moar like endless gold.

reg is, and always will be a glass cannon. if they get two regs just kill them over and over again. sure you'll die once or twice but once you start health stacking they shouldn't be able to do anthing to you. if they are going mine spam they have to have some mana items meaning they will be 1. slow and 2. have low health. easy kills

and if they are both humping each others legs FINE. just go push the other sides tower. if they try to port in then you KNOW they only can throw 4 mines (assuming its mid game and you haven't been nub feeding) and tehy port in with maybe 3k health.

long story short 2 regs is not good

You basicly need health stacking + pots vs 2 regulus, because 2 snipes (and often also Heaven's Wrath) can do around 2k of damage. But I usually don't play doubles at all. There's no need anyway, especially once there are 10 demigods.

2 supports = 2 insane tanks

and even with sedna, ... no way

Its kind of your fault to allow them to do 2 regulus cause your team should do 2 beasts to easily beat them.

Didn't save the reply - got the patch the day after... I'll drop a link when we play again - but thats a smart idea.

I just find if you play against a good reg, you never actually catch them since they are ranged - to catch them you need to have insane speed. They are only prepared to fight when the battle favours them. And if you attack them, you get nailed by their towers and even through great micro, you can still run over mines since there are so many. It is easy to dominate the flags against 2 reg but I find they score kills while not dying much and soon get enough gold to get the better equipment and start to take over.

Don't know why, never had a problem with one reg... He doesn't combine well with other heroes and he doesn't have enough mines to cause a problem. For some reason two regs are squashing our team though... Will try out the early idols though - see if that helps...

btw thanks for the help :D
