1.05.71 available

Okay, a few people reported that 1.05.70 still reported as 1.044 when they were in the game.

So I did a touch on the EXE and made sure the XML is prpoerly updated. If this doesn't work for everyone, I'm going to strongly consider my alternative strategy of starting a new life living on the land in the mountains... ;)

Michigan (where I believe Stardock is located) is alot of miles away from any mountains I'm aware of

Well, I don't want to force anyone to go live in a pond or on a mountain, but I can say that your patching and repatching for this quirk is not behaving 100% optimally. I updated to .071, but the options still say 1.04, and I re-won a game that I know should be scoring around 10K in 1.05, but I'm seeing 77K (or about 4K "fixed") with the 1.05.071, which is clearly the old 1.044 scoring rearing it's ugly head.

I'll try a complete reinstall later because I can't play with 1.044 scoring, my blood pressure just can't take it ;)

Oh, btw, CM - I don't know how much it's worth with the current scoring-chaos, but we're in the Top10, that means we got our own nice little spot on the Galactic Map. :CONGRAT:

That did it, though the scoring seems to have changed in 1.05.071. My initial submission (1.05.069) was 2715 (5513 Mpts) and this was 2820 (4772 Mpts).
It could be I just don't know how the points work.

Curious, but doesn't really matter...beats the heck out of 400! LOL

Thanks

@Brad and co.: not sure what it means, but after doing a complete reinstall of both GalCiv and SDC, updating to 1.05.071 actually does give me a 1.05 game in the option and the scoring - something isn't being properly replaced.

@Yellow Sign: yep, took my screen shots this morning as I don't expect it to last unless others want to fight on the side of the inverts LOL

CM - yea, I think those who got 1.05.70 may have their XML goofed a tad and .71 wn't always do the trick in which case they'd have to reinstall but hopefully that's very very few people.

Finally, a patch that i could install without my game getting seriously f'd up... ahh, it feels nice to play a seemingly non-glitchy, non-ctd game of GalCiv.

FrogBoy, i really think it would be beneficial to have clear distinction between 'stable' and 'development' versions. While i'm quite impressed with your commitment to support the product, it seems that a lot of bugs slip to patches.

Maybe the SDC patches should be officially labelled as 'use-at-your-own-risk' and then releasing seperate 'stable' standalone download every 2-4 weeks. (Or if there already is such a policy, it should be made clear to all customers).

Just downloaded and installed the patch, but it didn't fix my major trouble. Is anybody else experiencing this bug:

If planetlist is NOT being shown when something changes (moving mil/soc/research sliders or ending turn) then it will have outdated information when later activated. For example if i look minimap when ending the turn, and then change to planetlist it still shows last turn's situation.

This is new bug for me with 1.05, seems to correlate with the introduced enhancement: "planet list refreshes if open when domestic economy screen refreshes ".

Well, enough of ranting for the day. Back to playing.

I have noticed this too. Previously when we hit F2 to bring up the planet list, it would show the latest display. With the new domestic screen (F4) refresh feature (which works fine), the F2 no longer seem to show the latest info. The only way to get the planet list to refresh would be to hit F4 to bring up the domestic screen.

Reported the failure for the planet list to refresh properly in the bug report thread yesterday evening. It's really bad because it will go turns without updating now unless you do something that forces it to refresh.

You can just hit F2 twice when you bring up the planet menu. The second time should refresh it, if it wasn't refreshed already. I leave the planet screen up when I end turn alot also, it seems to refresh correctly when it is open during a turn change as well. I really like how the planets screen refreshes while moving econ sliders now, can't wait until it is working right everywhere. ;)

Where is a list of the fixes/changes? There is nothing new in the readme...

re: hkarapuu

They already do this. If you are downloading from SDC, you are getting 'development' patches. If you download the Standalone patchs, you are getting the 'stable' patches.

Download patches off SDC at your own risk.

Frogboy said what he did, in his post here...

I've checked this out and I think that I've got it fixed now.  I had put in code so that it wouldn't update the list until it was open, but it wasn't getting the unhide command soon enough.
