Game loading never ends

Hi,

Tonight most of the game I tried to play ended during the loading : on the loading screen with the map as background, the game HUD appears and the loading never finishes.

I have lost something like 1h30 trying to play with my friends : we were unable to play a single game together. I was able to play 2 games with random guys, and then again the bug with randoms...

Overall, my evening got wasted because of these crashs. This unreliability is deceiving, we (my friends and I) never observed that bug before last update, and now it happens randomly (and tonight random was '80% of the time').

[I may break with demigod for a while, I love this game but I've always though that being annoyed because of a game is not a normal situation. Many people I know have quit this game weeks ago because of unreliability and bugs, I guess everyone got its own limits. I wish I am an isolated case, but I am afraid this game will never manage to get a real community because even people loving the game got discouraged by disappointing experiences.]

Don't feel bad.

 

My friend bought the game because we pressured him into it. He finally installs it and im about to head over to his house. My other friend (dg player) is over this kids house already. So my friend logs on my buddys account, and I log on mine from my house and we decide to play an online game so my buddy who's new to the game can see what DG is all about (he only played a bit of single player) - then I'd head over to hang out afterwards.

4 minutes into the game my friend and I simulatanously crash to desktop after waiting 20 minutes in lobby for a 3v3 to fill up....... he uninstalled the game..... and never played it again.

 

stardock / gpg still got paid their $40 retail. And my friend doesn't care enough to get his money back. haha good times. no harm no foul I guess. Me and my other friend who still plays DG laughed our asses off when this happened - almost as hard as we laugh at the "success!" failure to join a lobby error message.

If you're getting [no text] on lobby or load screens, try deleting your Game.prefs file from My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod.

Thanks for your answer kryo, I've read this solution from the sticky thread after, not try it already though.
Is there a shortcut to do this (in civ4, holding 'shift' while the game was loading cleared the cache) ?
Have you any idea what can provoque this ? (which kind of preferences are involved).
