Is it me or we are getting much less random events starting 1.4 (or may be 1.3) ?

Is it me or we are getting much less random events starting 1.4 (or may be 1.3) ?

Having all this random even in original(release) version was making game too hard , but now I rearly get them , this kills part of the fun :(

May be developers could do another "switch" in game start up screen defining how often random events will occure ? (just like it was in original MoO :) )

I've not done any "scientific analysis," but I agree with you, it seems like they occur less often.

I've added a bunch of custom ones off this forum, and I've had the same one show up 3 times in a row. Weird...

i agree too. Less random events for me.
Less space monsters too.

^^^ sad :(

It does seem that way. I'm about 80% done with a large map and I think I could count every random event in the game on my 2 hands.

I totally agree that it seems like less and less random events with each update. I would like to see an option to increase the frequency of random events. I wouldn't be disappointed to see colonization events every time you found a new colony. Wouldn't even mind being able to make a racial pick such as "opportunistic" to increase the odds of getting random events. I would probably put a point into this before I put one into creativity.

The irony is that if they really have been tweaking them down, it's only because they listened to the whining of a vocal subgroup who bitched and moaned about how random events were hurting their pure strategy game :)

There are less events from my perspective. It would be interesting if there were an increase event pick at the beginning of the game. The problem I see with that is folks also choosing Universalists and luck so that the much increased event chance is more likely to favor them.

Um, I think they are back, with a vengence. I have had more events with 1.05.071 in the last 2 days than in the previous 2 months. (literally)

Code Monkey..i hope you are wrong with your analysis.

Random events are a really fun thing.....as is the space monster..which i never see anymore even in the
late game.

Yes, I wish there were more. In my "good" games I'm often not getting enough random events to get me all the way to chaotic good, much less pure good. It's quite annoying.

Yet I have gotten Space Monsters in 3 of my last 5 games. But before that, I hadn't seen them for about 15 games.

I do agree that it is very hard to make it to pure good as it is now. But I think that is more a result of how little most good picks raise your morality, as opposed to the bad events which drop you very fast. It should take a serious effort to reach pure good, but as it is now, it is almost impossible, with a large or smaller game to hit pure good without using cheesy repeat colonization to get events. And I refuse to bore myself by doing stuff like that.

Be nice if there could be a setting for Random Event Frequency.

I got wiped out a bunch of times when I first got the game, but I really miss them now... the universe seems uneventful.

Hmm, I think luck will reduce the number of random events... from what I can tell, luck will basically stop a certain number of bad events happening to you, so they reduce the amount of events that do happen.

Now I don't know how things like space monsters are calculated... its possible they are something that could be stopped by luck, and this apparent decrease in events is due to the AIs picking luck more in recent versions or something.

I haven't noticed any drop in frequency of events.

I'd sure like it to jsut be an option. I know Brad's expressed his views on "options" in general, but this would be such a simple one... no?

Brad expressed his views on this? What did he say?

Yes..i think Options on Random Event frequency and
space monster frequency would be great.

I think the events are coming up again. My last game I had 2 space monster attacks and pirates and the "evil force" taking over my planet for the major events. And this was a fairly quick game too (small galaxy).

Frogboy at some point mentioned that in beta tests, requests for features controlled by options/toggles were generally hardcore features that were less likely to be of interest to the majority of players. As I interpreted the comment, requests for variables controlled by toggle/sliders were often left out due to limited funds/time because they only appealed to a small part of the audience.

Well there is many people and many opinions thats why I am asked to be able select the random event freq. either on game setup or in options.
