Speed Rook, is it possible?

Speed Rook, is it possible?

Can it be done?

I have been messing with a speed rook build and I either have great success (9-2) or I epically fail (0-7).

The idea is to be able to slam people without boulder because you can run guess where there going to walk and slam them. Than chase with tower upgrades and slapping for the kill, than GTFO because your probably almost dead.

The highest I have seen my movement speed is 10.3 with journeymans base is about 6.8 when you have boots + anklet, wand brings it up to 7-whatever.

Here is the B.O.:

  • 1-Towers 1
  • 2-Archer Tower
  • 3-Slam 1
  • 4-Slam 2
  • 5-Tower of Light (shoulder)
  • 6-Boulder 1
  • 7-Slam 3
  • 8-Trebuchet
  • 9-Save
  • 10-Slam 4, Boulder 2
  • 11- God strength 1
  • 12- God strength 2
  • 13- Save
  • 14- Save
  • 15- Dizzying Force, Poison Arrows, God Strength 3
  • 16-20- Stats

Items go something like this:

  • Banded + Skaled
  • Boots of Speed
  • Unbreakables
  • either sell skaled for vlemish but if you have the money just buy it
  • Nimoth Chest Plate (interchangeable with wand)
  • Wand of Speed (interchangeable with wand)
  • Journeymans for Banded

So basically your playing with an HP deprived rook, and stack speed instead.

I have attached a replay vs. some very respectable opponents (Orcun_BL and shinobinomono) to give you an idea of how its played at a high level:

Cloak of Elfinkind.

Not always gonna happen, but a lot of fun when it does.

Boulder Roll III -> Blink -> Hammer Slam. It works

Yeah. A Blinking Rook is a lot of fun, and very dangerous. If he could just start the game with CoE, this build would be quite viable.

I wish I could start with an 11k artifact...

Yeah, it's too bad that the pace of the game dictates that they rarely get used.

To me Boulder roll is the best spell in the game :P  I always max it whenever I can.  That tower of light isnt going to save you or a crazy teammate in a pinch.

It will when you can drop one so that your Level 7 Oak with Shield three can port in.

I've seen another speed rook variant they took an early point in structural transfer. Very annoying.

With the speed, you get around the main weakness of this skill, the ease of being interrupted. You attack, disengage, heal and then come back to battle a few seconds later.

Considering how little armor Rook has, and how much less life speed rook has, I am wondering if its worth it to take archer tower/ tower of light early since you can't really stick around in a prolonged battle?

eg: Speed, In, boulder, slam, withdraw, heal. Repeat until later when you've bought your life higher with items.

Possible early build to experiment with to see if this hammer and run Rook actually works out...

Tower I
Hammer I
Structural I
Hammer II
Boulder I

Now to be clear, this is not to say you won't eventually take arrows and tower of light, just that you will take them a bit later then normal when your life is higher and you can stick around to make their damage output worthwhile.

And hey, since you can choose to melee, gauntlets of brutality? :)

Maybe in a week when I am bored I will update this post with my new speed build. School will be done for me by next week wedensday.

I think writting an Ooze beast guide might also be benefitial because it seems like whenever someone does ooze that isn't me they fail at it miserably.

^Oh god, can you not write a silly guide.

I'm worried that more and more people will follow that guide and fail miserably.

I still need to find out where some of these erebus and ub builds are coming from... why they get duelist cuirass is beyond me.

...or Sedna with a Heal, or QoT with a Shield, or any general with monks. Being able to have your teammates follow you whereever you go is HUGE. Especially when you are standing on top of that tower and your opponent doesn't see Oak port in until he has already Surged and Penitenced.
