To Stardock- Perhaps you want to give all the information to a 3rd party to make the new manual?

Just a thought ...maybe have someone (3rd party) who loves this game (excluding myself)...put together a manual that covers almost everything and will satisfy most everyone. They would need very easy to access to the main designer(s) and programmer(s) for Galciv, though.

Just a thought...if you are having a hard time with the manual...just contract someone out and pay them to make
a real nice one for all of us.

no? yes?

be well Frogboy, Cari, Boogie and the rest there!

Did any of you bother to download the new manual from the download area? IT's twice as big and was created by myself and some fans. In short, we've already done what you suggest. ;)

but wait!

There is still some work that needs to be done.....

whenever you get a chance...

for ex: the political parties such as the universalists..their bonuses are listed wrongly in the
current pdf...

and there are other things i can email someone that
need to be documented also..

no rush..just tell me if you know about these errors
when you get a chance..and if you are done or not :D

I don't think it would work to have a commercially available 3rd party strat guide for this game. One of two things would happen:

1) The strat guide would quickly become irrelevent due to fantastic and frequent updates to the gameplay.

2) The GalCiv development cycle will come to crawl in order to prevent the above problem. Even if it didn't slow down much, it would put the developers in a situation where they had to decide between adding a small tweak to improve the game, or leaving it alone so that the nice shiney professionally printed $20 strategy guide is still correct.

Me, well, I'll take the frequent updates, plus the free online manual updates, thank you. :)

Agree that at the rate the game is being updated and rebalanced, printed guides would be obsolete before they reach the gamer.

That's why we have the board and fan-based FAQs and guides.
