For My Eyes Only
What A Sight

The evening was cold, but the sky was clear. I tossed on my favorite cowbow hat, tied a scarf around my neck, buttoned three times on my coat, and headed down the road.
The air was crisp, but it was refreshing. It was a comforting cold. The kind you miss nowand then. The mornings you remember as a child, waking up and peering out the window as the first snow of the year gently falls to the gorund. The path twisted and turned until it broke in two. I crept slightly to the left.
In front I could see the woods. Jack frost was nipping at my heels, but I could feel it was close. The place I was expecting to end was near. A hill climbed slightly and that was where it had to be. I knew it was. I could feel it. I reached the top and there it was. The place where I would settle. The place where I would spend the next hour, between two fallen trees on my back, looking up, in awe of what I was going to see.
Sure enough, two fallen trees. I overlooked a small lake, frozen now by the cold, and a vast array of trees. The sky had just started turning, so the timing was perfect. I rested my head on a branch and waited to watch.
At first it was pink. The clouds slowly rolled by, and I could hear nature all around. My nose was cold as blue began to break through, and within a minute it was miraculous. The pinks, blues , greens, yellows and everything in between melted together to create natures masterpiece. The light played tricks on my eyes. It seemed there were lights riding through the sky. Small, oblong, golden lights riding through the tye-died sky. Some sort of miracle. An understanding beyond my comprehension. I was jealous, for a moment, then relieved to know that I was there to be involved. Time had no meaning, it was meant for me to enjoy on my own. Sadly enough, the colors slowly faded, and then black. It was time to leave. Natures present was over, yet the revivng walk back was still ahead. I took my time to soak it all in.
