game startup processor usage spike

when i start DG and log onto multiplayer, the processor usage stays 40-50% for the first few minutes and crunches my hdd like no tomorrow. im not even in lobby, just the first multiplayer menu screen.

mem usage is not climbing. around 100mb usually.

whats going on?
