Game Performance

Hi. I was just wondering if it is normal for SOASE to get really stuttery in an 7 AI-1 human match. My fleet is pretty large (spammed the carriers)...and I have about 8 caps as well. What is happening is that on the strategic view everything is hunky dory, but then when i zoom in to planet level it stutters...ships move jerkily, and even the sound is shaky.

In my opinion this shouldn't be happening becuase I'm rocking an AMD Athlon X2 (3.0GHZ), a ATI Radeon 3870 (dedicated 512 MB VRAM), and 4 sticks of 1 GB OCZ ram (3.5gigz vista recognizes). So is this normal for the game to do this? Or could it be a problem with directx? I reinstalled all my radeon drivers just in case but its still happening on reloading the game (immediately), so its not about temp overheat...Oh, one last thing, all my settings are on highest for detail, shadow, etc.

First of all, don't rock it. The case should remain perfectly still when powered on.

Lol it should happen since you are running vista. Although, it should be that jecky, I have played vinlla sins wiht much much more insane ship count, 3k fleet supply per player, 50 caps and 10 players 8x with 2gb on xp it wasn't that bad, all insane detail

I used to have that - before I changed my pc. I'm now on a i7 920 @ 3.62Ghz, 2x4890s, 6Gb ram @ 1451Mhz and everything is as smooth as anything.

I have distant stars mod, game file modded to increase fleet sizes. Only recently I had 32 caps, 200+ percherons, 200+ kodiaks +countless others  wandering around without any problem, along with 8 AIs and their frigate spams.
