I agree, how can people say DemiGod is the best strategy or RTS of the year.  Its just far to simplistic to be put in this genre, let alone be the best. You can't control your mininons, build anything or have any map that has any real strategic values, compare this to Sup Com, Sins or other proper RTS. If anything DemiGod is more like a FPS RPG but on the scale of a demo. The grahics may be lush but the game is just too kiddified, RTS needs complexity to enable stategy, I just don't understand why RTS is going down the current route, not being able to control anything but one main character is just lazy. Let's hope Sup Com2 is nothing like DemiGod, we want large scale strategy not just pretty graphics.

I'm pretty certain, and please don't take me wrong, that the whole point of the game was to be in a different genre of strategy games than Supreme Commander. Everyone says "don't compare Demigod to DotA", but DotA is probably the closest and most popular thing to Demigod that you can find (at least back when it was released). Saying that the game doesn't belong in the RTS genre really depends on one's definition of RTS games and is obviously a matter of opinion. It's played in real time and some strategy is required to win (which skills, upgrades and items to buy in certain situations and where and when to push the enemy's side of the map is something I would call strategy). That certainly fits a very basic definition of RTS, but RTS (like any other genre) is broken up into sometimes very different sub-genres. RTS itself could be considered a very large sub-genre of strategy games with TBS being the other half of the "strategy pie".

I feel what you guys are looking for is along the line of "grand strategy" games (imagine that, another sub-genre :) ) which is much closer to Supreme Commander. I'm sorry if you guys or anybody bought demigod thinking it was closer to Sup Com, but you could have pretty much looked at the box or read almost any review and you would have known that Demigod is about as far away from Sup Com as you can possibly get and still be considered part of the RTS genre.

One thing I will definitely agree on though is Sup Com 2 better not be anything like Demigod.

yeah i saw a demo  at e3 and they were using different levels and big abysses but you could not use the other levels they were just scenery. This will be gay if that is the case. What i would like is 200km maps and a much more complex economic strategy and rapid manufacturing both supreme commander and global foundaries (come on ati these cards are nonexistent so far)!
