A hybrid dream is one that uses a static wallpaper and you can add some animated elements to it. It will use less cpu than other dream since you do not have to have full screen animation as a video dream does.
The Vintage dream that comes with DeskScapes 3 is one and I've uploaded a couple myself. The great thing about them is the author can set them up so the animated parts can be enabled or disabled as you wish.
An example of this is the Menorah dream I uploaded. The user can turn each candle on seperately.
The only thing requiered to use Hybrid dreams is you must have DeskScapes 3 installed.
i wondered what a hybrid was myself,, thanks for the explination carguy. xx
Your welcome Kitty.
I forgot to mention, it's not really that hard to create a hybrid dream. It contains a background jpg or png, the animated elements in .nwa format and a .hybrid file which is just a text document with the perimiters of the components and how they should be laid out.
If you are interested in creating one you should run the vintage dream and then go to the extracted dreams directory and check out the components.
I'm also going to create a little tutorial soon that will hopefully help give a better understanding of how to create them.
that would be awsome, if you also include how to turn the frames into a movie or whatever that would be sweet, i installed photoshop after effects like you said, but of course couldnt work it out for the life of me.
thanx carguy - i think i will stick with the .dreams for now tho lol
Can anyone post a link to the tutorial island dog made concerning hybrid dreams...i can`t seem to find it.
Hmmm........ thnx for this post lou, gonna create a few more hybrid dreams now .......almost had forgotten bout them since the Winterdreams contest.....and yeah, as Carguy mentions, they are indeed very low on resources ![]()
muckyman...download this one of mine, run it, and go to the extracted dreams directory to check out the parts. The .hybrid is the layout of the dream, just open it in a text editor and check out how I laid it out. Also, google for a screen ruler, it really comes in handy when creating your layout.
You can PM me if you run into a problem...happy to help if I can.
Thanks for the help guys.![]()
Carguy, i wanna create a .hybrid dream on nature theme including switching off/on different elements like the clouds or water, but if i use these whole parts as animation, would'nt the .NWA file become too large ? For eg. clouds moving across a screen would require quite many .png's to be imported into frame builder, what do you say???
For clouds you wouldn't have to use the whole sky, just the clouds. You could have a couple of small animated cloud layers that you can set to resize and move across the sky.
