Repair Platforms and SB's

I have a quick question about repair platforms.  Will a repair platform help structures and Star Bases that are in their zone of influence?

dont be afriad to build more than one, they can then heal each other, which is important because most people and AIs (the rare smart move they make) likes to target the repair bays

I usually build 4-5 within range of a starbase. The hapless AI goes after the repair bays while the starbase shreds its fleet. Its just slaughter.

A starbase with repair bays is probably twice as dangerous in the early game.  Virtually impossible to take out if you don't bring some serious force to bear.
