Race Offshoot Question

Hello, I am working on a 40K mod and am at a fairly advanced stage. I have all my race images and have mapped races to tech trees and so on.

 

I am at the stage of adding minor races to the race config xml and cant see a way of putting offshoot details in.

 

Is it possible to put offshoots into a mod? If so how?

 

If not I can always make things like Gue'vesa and Harlequins a minor race of their own. Right now  I have about 30+ official 40K races (including my offshoots and some of the text only races) ready to drop in. It would be nice to slot them all in.

Any help would be really great.

I have drafted up tthe race config file now. It has all 32 races crammed in 12 main game, 8 minors (not counting pirates and DLs) and 12 offshoots, IDs 30 to 41.

 

I can see Minors are CIV type 3 Specials (DL etcs) are 5, and regulars are type 4.

 

Are Offshoots type 2? Or 4? Or should I settle for 3. Also if I add all these in will it simply select the "offshoot" races I have speced as Minors and just dilute those races available?

On the plus side, it is looking really nice now. After this is sorted I will "only" have the conversations and other minor text to finish off and perhaps model some 3d ships (although there are close facsimilies in the game I have set up for now).

 

This is easily the most fun I have had modding thus far.

In the unmodded game all the main races have an offshoot that spawns during a game.

These seem to be labelled as race IDs 30 to 39 but are not shown on the config doc which either means they cannot be changed or they do not show in a modded game.

To try to activate these I have created a race for each of these. I have placed their ports are in the GFX folders and updated the config doc to show raceUDs 30 to 41.

I am not sure what the CIVTYPE field and if it is relevant to this or not.

 

Again I can see that some minor races are civ type 3. Main races are 4 and special races are 5. I suspect offshoots would be 3 or 5. If they are classed as an event they will be 5 presumably, 3 if they might??
