My hybrid Oak build

ok well I'm pretty much a Oak player though and though. I have tried both completly minon and assasin Oaks but find a hydrid Oak to work out the best for me. Minon Oaks just don't do enough damage till the late game and just don't give me the amount of kills i want. While a assasin Oak is simply too linear for me and is too macro for me. A hybrid Oak has a lot of different paths it can take and I can adapt whenever needed.

levels 1-7 (always)

1: shield 1, 2: penitence 1, 3: divine justice 1, 4: dead ward 1, 5: soul power 1, 6: surge of faith 1, 7: morale 1

levels 8-15 most of the time (situational)

8: dead ward 2, 9: penitence 2, 10: surge of faith 2, 11: dead ward 3, 12: penitence 3, 13: dead ward 4, 14: penitence 4, 15: surge of faith 3

i don't normal get a game that goes passed level 15 so I just get whatever then

This strategy has been working very well for me though i will admit morale at level 7 may not really be necessary.

starting items: totem of revelation and monks

favor item: cloak of the night or tome of endurance

normal armors: banded armor, velmish faceguard, boots of speed, and gladiator gloves (situational)

I upgrade to other armors if money/time allows

critique and give any advise you want please

Its seems to be a good build. Just switch SoF and Soul Power to get SoF at lvl 5. With DJ its a nice combo to get ur mana back in no time. My build is hydrib but i get minions later on game.

i like shield 3 .. ? shield > morale if you ask me . i won't max shield . 3 is enough for alot of things ! cap lock + tp = most important .

All 4 skills is a bit mana troublesome isn't it? especially with only 1 helmet.

yeah its good but i just don't have 2 extra skill points to get to shield 3 (6 sec) and shield 2 (4 sec) just doesn't seem worth it

i don't have too much trouble with mana. though i have lost a lot of kills due to no mana for penitence  :'( . dj and faceguard usually gives me enough to stay on the front lines till i need to shop

The benefit of shield 3 is that it protects you from stuns.

I think shield 3 is Oak's most important skill, it allows you to play way way WAY more aggressively, and to go for those dangeruos portal caps.  Oak can escape from situations no other demigod would live through.

Yeah, you should never pass up shield 3. It's so very good. :)

And you should almost never be without shield lvl 3 either.

hm, sry but this build is not really competitve.

you are spreading your points over all abilities, and at level 10 u have three abilities at level 2 and  shield 1,

at this time a decent Oak player has pent 4, shield 3 and sourge of faith, with 2 mana helmets, Monks and BoF, he will wipe u from the map in less than 10 secs. and that's only in a 1v1 situation. in a really 3v3 teamgame your build is absolutly worthless because u cannot make enough dps nor u dont have enough support abilites.

please, if u every use a minios-build Oak, Gloves of Fell-Darkur are a must have!

I play a hybrid Oak as well, and the entire point of Oak is playing cautiously till level 7 when you get Shield III. It is the single most powerful and versatile ability in the game. Everything else should be a secondary consideration till you have Shield III. After that, if you die, it's because you messed up, not because they have a more powerful DG than you. Try leaving off either penitence or raise dead/ soul power till later game (Surge and DJ are still essential.) I tend to get raise dead/ soul power earlier as it is less mana intensive early game, when you want to make sure you can still surge or shield when neccessary then I start getting penitence around 8-12. Once you have Shield III at 7, you will be behind on DPS because you have laid off spirits and penitence, but from 7 on, Oak is like a snowball rolling down a mountain, and as you start concentrating on damage late game because you are essentially unkillable, you will become unstoppable.

For the first 7 levels you should be away from the action as much as possible trying to flatten creep waves and outlevel your opponent. You might get pushed around a bit but be patient, tower-camp if you have too and just bide your time. You will be able to get your revenge on that UB or LE in a few levels.

It's not just the 6 seconds of Shield III either that makes it OP, it's the removal of all debuffs. Against Mine-Reg or Spit-Beast (among others) it is absolutely crucial.

Shield 3 is highly recommended.  It gives you the opportunity to play a alot more aggressively than without it. Yours is closer to a minion build.

Morale is a bit of a waste unless you are going full minion build.

Try my hybrid build out, see if you like it:

  1. Shield
  2. Pen
  3. DJ
  4. Pen
  5. SOF
  6. Shield
  7. Shield
  8. Pen
  9. Hold
  10. SOF + Pen
  11. Soul Power
  12. Wards then SOF then DJ

Items:  Blood or cloak

Monks + totem

Vlemish, banded, nimoth, plenor, bishops, hauberk, groffling etc.
