Hello Distant Stars players!!!

We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!

This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!

The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. :P

Feel free to post up game time beyond the current set times, and letting us know your ICO name so we can add you to the list!!! We will hopefully see some of you ingame!!!

 Warning:

Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes...  You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.

We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!

yep, sorry i wasnt there, i do believe i gave a warning saying i wouldnt be there, but i think that was a while ago. (i did tell carbon)

-Lowered total Fleet points to roughly half of current. Will edit with exact number when I test it again. (You wont be able to make 32 caps I think you may with the Supply Pact)

The checksum matched, however I would recommend a restart of the game after applying the mod since the loaded meshes all change.  I started a game and mini dumped right away.

 

My thoughts,

I played a 6 player map against 3 AI's.  I built the maximum number of hanger defenses that I could at every planet, built starbases with max strike craft hanger upgrades at every planet, Built my normal set of cap ships, all had their strike craft...  The Ai's were doing similar tactics.  Used the typical settings of everything on fast....  Set up my defenses and walked away for a while and let the game run so that the AI's had a chance to max everything out and build out as much as they could.  The only time I had a slowdown was in a massive battle where my whole fleet was going against one of the AI's whole fleet, and a second AI decided to bring their whole fleet in and joined in on the destruction...  The grav well was just crazy full of activity.  Other then that one time, everything whizzed along just fine the rest of the game.

So it causes minidumps? Grrrr...I thought I got rid of those. I was having problems with coverting them back to bin. And yeah the planet textures are all screwy b/c I only added the meshes. But I might take them out b/c they only are for a tiny handful of planets.

It did minidump again during my mop up operations after I had defeated 1 AI and was on my way to stomping on the second...  Nothing got saved in the file so I can't be more useful then that.  I'm gonna jump back in to the last save and try to recreate a few situations that I know I was in to see if I can get a repeat dump.

Hey people, my laptop's working again, so once my exams are out of the way, I'll try to get online.

By the way, is Dynamic Movement in the Diplomacy version yet, because I find that DM really completes the game for me.

Not specifically, no, but at some point I or someone else will look into it and see what it takes to get it to work.  We could probably be pressured into taking a stab at it sooner if you downloaded teamspeak and bugged us.  ;Þ

Ok, Ive got it narrowed down to the stupid planets. Something about the new meshes it doesnt like. So....Im gonna remove them and re upload the update.

 

Also will be adding the Battleship tweak we talked about. Will be increasing the side banks targets by 1.

all the new meshes or just the planet meshes? cause the meshes really help with lag.

Yeah Pb all the meshes i took out, for now. They were causing Minidumps. If yall get bored and want to figure out which one(s) it is, go ahead till then I took them out. Hopefully with the next update to the Sins Optimazation Project, we can at least add trade ships and SC. That should give us the biggest bang for our buck.

hmm... odd. was it a ship mesh? it it was... i would have to guess it was the tec heavy cruiser... because i do believe the tech heavy cruiser was altered... made longer? something like that. idk. no idea.
