Movies To Me

In my opinion there are few things as entertaining in this world as movies.  Probably most people would agree with me on that point, but they probably don't love movies as much as I do.  I have always loved movies, since I was a little girl until now.  I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.  Actually, watching movies is something my husband and I love to do together on our date nights.  I absolutely love getting lost and caught up in the movie that I'm watching.  I think the most important thing to me in a movie is the character development.  Getting to know the characters in the movie is always so interesting and sheds light on human nature.  I also love how a movie can inspire me.  Not to mention the fabulous one-liners that everyone loves to quote when that movie is mentioned.

Disney movies shapped my view of the world when I was young.  I knew, and still know almost every word to the movies and the songs that go along with them.  My parents tried desperate to distract me from them, but they didn't always succeed. They tried getting me involved in just about everything under the sun.  I was involved in soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, dance , gymnastics, horseback riding, karate, and piano.  Crazy, huh?!  However, I made up for lost time when I came home from those activities. I would just put in a movie and sing and dance along with it for the rest of my day.  So eventually they just gave up trying to push me into everything, and just let me enjoy wathcing my movies. My parents efforts were not wasted though, because I became a very good athlete and well round person because of all the activities they had me involved in.

A downside to loving and watching movies so much is that they tend to shape and alter my perception of the world.  Unfortunately, I get caught up with the idea of love that the movies portray.  Movies portray love as a feeling most of the time, but the truth is that its not only a feeling but also a choice.  Its fine for movies to inspire us to love, but I don’t think that we should expect love from others to be like that.  Movies don’t reflect the real world, and they are meant to be fantasy.  For example, right now I’m watching one of my favorite movies called Enchanted.  The relationship between Giselle and Prince Edward is exactly that false perception of love that I'm talking about.  Although, I do love Amy Adams’ and James Marsden’s singing voices.  Gotta go.  Peace.
