terror star bug

I've reported this bug including save file and screenshot before but no reply.

So re-read the bug submission process and it says to post here as well.

I have 3 terror stars lines up against 3 enemy stars ready to destroy. However, once I click on them to do their thing, nothing happens: just a warning war will be declared and then nothing.

Can anyone help ? Or do I submit to stardock bug email and link to this post ?

Thanks

Hello,

Although your descriptions are a bit vague, I have seen such behaviour before. I guess it does have something to do with your Alliance/Team-status.

Question: Does the pop-up give you the option to procede with your action (and thus declare war) or is no selection possible. Could you post the specific text here? I´ve got such a message in one of my games, too - but AFAIK I could procede and take the war....

Have you tried to declare war on all affected races using the diplomacy screen or using a ship-attack?

I have the opposing player as an ally. I then speak to that race and break alliance then attempt to use the terror star by aiming at the star. A warnign appears that war will be declared by them, then nothing.

If I reclick on the terror star on the the star, "1.0" appears - saying it needs another week to get there, even though it is clearly the closest it can be.

If I declare war, the same thing as above happens.

You probably have the 'one week waiting period' for attack in play, from the vote in the UP(United Planets). Go to the UP screen and check if it is in effect.

no - I make sure that that in not enforced by the UP.

I actually save the game before any UP votes specifically if the "one week" or "neutral ground" resolutions come up

This is  so I can go back to a previous save and make sure another vote is cast on another matter.

The bug may link to the one week rule, but even if I wait one week (if the T star isn't destroyed) nothing still happens

I've run into this myself.  The times I've been able to get Terror Stars to work as expected is if I am at war with the race that owns the planets and none of my own planets are in the solar system.  Otherwise, I get the warning and no action as described in the OP.  Although, I was once able to comit hari-kari using a Terror Star.  I got the warning and said yes, the solar system was destroyed and the game ended.  It even said in the game summary that destorying yourself with a Terror Star was priceless.  Got a laugh out of that.

Make sure you have the box to show fleet battles checked in the settings.  Terror stars won't work if it isn't.  That held me up for a few turns at the end of the last mission in the game.

I always play with Full Fleet Battles unchecked, somethimes with Show Battle Sequence unchecked.  So does running with this setting unchecked cause Terror Stars to not work at all, or only sometimes.

I've always un-checked these Fleet Battles and whatsoever, but the Terror Stars will work for me anyway....

oh - ok - will try that, I think I have the save game stored somewhere. I'll try it and report back

sorry - didn't think it would work, but worth a try. Have submitted to Stardock twice but no reply yet (plus one back in Jun 2008)
